Chapter 18
“He said I belong to him. He owns me. So, he wants his property to have control of it. That video I had ain’t worth shit now. Marty never cared about the politics. Since he now owns his father’s estate, that’s all he wanted. He doesn’t work, so no career to tarnish like his dad and grandfather. So, showing that video wouldn’t even get him a slap on the wrist, in fact he’d probably be proud of it now. Especially since I know he has the police on his payroll now.” Raine explained.
“Do you think you could talk him into a confession?” I. T. asked.
“I don’t know. I’m not sure I’d know what to say. And if I’d make him suspicious of me?” Raine asked.
“We need to think, if you want to try? I voted no, but we are stuck right now on ideas.” Jax replied.
“Ok, I’ll think on it.” Raine replied.
Later in bed, Jax and Raine were discussing ways she could get Marty to confess should she decide to go through with it.
“I know I need to do this, it’s our best and maybe only shot. I am just afraid of failing or screwing things up worse.” Raine sighed.
“Baby, whatever you decide, me and the club will be with you every step of the way.” Jax replied.
The next evening helped Raine make her decision. Everyone was at the clubhouse and it was lunchtime. The state police raid the clubhouse.
“My name is Detective Sanchez. I’ve got a search warrant to search this clubhouse for illegal drugs and guns. And to search for a missing woman by the name of Rainelle Parker.” Sanchez explained loudly.
“Everyone does exactly as they say. We have nothing to hide.” Jax ordered.
The police do a thorough search of the clubhouse and find nothing.
“Well, looks like we were misinformed this time on the drugs and guns. But Miss Parker you will need to come with me to clear up the missing person’s report.” Sanchez retorted.
“I don’t understand how anyone can report me missing. My parents are dead, I am 24 and not married. As you can see, I am perfectly fine.” Raine replied.
“Ma’am, your fiance said you disappeared, and he feared you were kidnapped and are being held against your will.” Sanchez explained.
“First of all, I do not have a fiance! Second of all I am here of my own free will! I even have a paying job at the bar! And third of all, I live here with my current boyfriend. My ex is trying to force me to go back to him. Or trying to use you to kidnap me?” Raine asked.
Just then the club attorney Ms. St. James walks in. “I’m Ms. St. James, their legal counsel. May I see the search warrant and any other paperwork you have?”
Sanchez hands her the warrant. She looks it over. “And have you concluded your search?” She asked.
“We have.” Sanchez replied.
“Did you find any illegal drugs or guns?” She asked.
“We did not.” He replied.
Then Mr. Sanchez I believe your job here is done. You can leave now.” She said as she crossed her arms.
“Well, there is one other matter. A missing person’s report was filed on Miss Parker. I need to take her to headquarters to get her statement to clear it up.” Sanchez retorted.
“Can I see that paperwork?” Ms. St. James asked.
“It’s at the headquarters.” Sanchez replied.
“Well, in that case you have two options. One, you can take her statement here and leave. Or two, I will take my client to your headquarters where she will provide a statement without ever leaving my sight. Seeing as how you don’t have the proper paperwork. Your choice.” Ms. St. James retorted.
“I think we’re done here. I’ll notate my report that Miss Parker is alive and well and not missing.” Sanchez said clenching his jaw.
“Mr. Sanchez, a little free legal advice, last time I checked, 24-year-olds are allowed to up and move without telling anyone why or where. You may want to let your friend know that? And should that law change, I’ll be sure and let you know.” Ms. St. James retorted.
“Alright boys, we’re done here.” Sanchez ordered.
The police finally left. And also left a huge mess in their wake.
“See, this is what I was afraid of! They could have easily planted illegal stuff!” Raine replied.
“Listen, we have cameras in every room. They are monitored in I. T.’s house. No one knows how to find our security room.” Jax explained.
“Ah Jax? Even our bedroom and bathroom?” Raine gasped.
“Of course. But, before you blow a gasket, that computer is turned off. It just records in case we would need to go back to prove something was done. ” Jax explained.
“Blade, find out why the Chief didn’t give us a heads up on the raid.” Jax ordered.
“Yes Prez.” Blade replied.
“Jax, I’ll bill you.” Ms. St. James said as she left. “Of course.” Jax agreed.
“I guess there’s no choice now. He won’t stop coming after me.” Raine whispered.
Jax looked at Raine while speaking to his brothers. “Now we plan. Church at 8am tomorrow. I. T. I want a complete sweep to make sure no devices were left behind.” “On it Prez.” He replied.
He did in fact find a few devices and destroyed them. The sheriff wasn’t informed of the raid and was pissed off that they came into his jurisdiction unannounced. They didn’t follow protocol and let him know.
In Church the next morning they came up with a plan that would help Raine with what things to say to get Marty to confess. Jax also had another plan he put in motion that she didn’t know about. If everything went as planned, Marty would be taking a permanent vacation in the pen. He’ll let her know of that plan later.
“Last chance to back out.” Jax explained.
“This is my mess to clean up.” Raine replied.
“Just make sure you keep your earrings in at all times. And the watch is a backup plan. The tracker in it will lead us to you if he happens to take off.” Jax cautioned.
“What about his jet?” Raine asked.
“Did you know Hunter was a pilot in the Air Force?” Jax asked.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
“No.” Raine replied.
“Well seems his regular pilot came down with a severe case of food poisoning. Hunter is the replacement pilot for the Vanderbilt private jet. Mr. Vanderbilt Senior was happy to vet him for the job.” Jax explained.
