Chapter 26: Abandoned in the street in the middle of the night
Orlando’s car slowly drove into the Cazalla family’s garden and Vanessa got out when the car stopped.
Orlando had prepared a white jade chess set for Felipe and a set of luxurious cosmetics for Mercedes Minas, Vanessa’s mother.
Vanessa’s parents were happy to see their presents and Vanessa smiled when she saw Orlando greeting her family politely, the man’s friendly appearance reminded her of the time when they had been married, but it was all just a fiction.
-Vanessa, what’s wrong? What are you doing frozen?
-Nothing,” Vanessa replied with a sly smile and immediately hugged Mercedes’ arm, “What are you cooking, mum? It smells great!
-What a sweet tooth you are! -Mercedes said affectionately, pinching Vanessa’s forehead.
-Orlando, come on, let’s go and have a game of chess,” said Philip, patting him.
-Of course,” Orlando smiled and nodded.
They went to Felipe’s chess room, where there was a full tea set and lounge chairs. Orlando used to accompany him to play chess whenever he visited the Cazalla family and Vanessa used to sit next to him trying to teach him even though she knew nothing about chess.
The old memories cheered Orlando, but soon his smile disappeared, because he could not go back to those times and Vanessa was to blame, for which he would never forgive her.
Then Orlando ducked his head as he sat down to hide his look of hatred.
On the other hand, Mercedes was cooking and Vanessa was helping her in the kitchen.
-How are you doing with Orlando?
-Vanessa paused for a second and replied with a smile.
Mercedes looked at her daughter, as a woman, she was more sensitive than Philip and caught her daughter’s strange look.
-What happened? Did you have a fight?
-No, we are fine.
“Does it look so obvious?” Vanessa was surprised, but she didn’t want Mercedes to worry, because she hadn’t been in very good health since she had given birth to her.
-Nothing, mum. Just a normal little conflict between a young couple,” said Vanessa, acting like a baby so as not to continue with the subject.
-Your father and I have spoilt you too much, don’t hurt Orlando any more, he’s a good boy.
-Mum, you say that as if he were your own son,” Vanessa said deliberately.
However, Vanessa was very sad, because her parents were very happy with Orlando and it would be terrible for them to know the truth.
“What should I do?”
In any case, Vanessa could only be more careful to hide her feelings in front of her mother so as not to worry her.
He was worried that Orlando would reveal his true emotions.
Luckily, Orlando played the role of a good husband, taking tender care of her during dinner, so Vanessa’s parents looked at him satisfied, thinking that their daughter was living happily.
After dinner, Mercedes invited them to spend the night at her house. Obviously, in the Cazalla family, the two couldn’t sleep in different rooms, after all, they were still a loving couple.
-I have an important meeting in the morning, so it’s more convenient if we go home. -Orlando declined the invitation, causing Vanessa to sigh in relief.
-Well, then drive carefully.
-Okay.
Afterwards, Mercedes and Felipe accompanied them to the car and watched them all the way to the exit.
Due to the watchful eyes of her parents, Vanessa had to sit in the passenger seat. Where she smelled Orlando’s strong, sweet and masculine perfume, which was totally different from Dylan’s fresh and soft perfume.
“Am I crazy? Why am I comparing Orlando to Dylan?”
-Does being with me make you so uncomfortable?
-What? -Vanessa looked at Orlando in confusion.
“Why is he angry? Even his face is gloomy and his tone is very harsh.”
With a screech, the car came to a halt in the street and Vanessa almost crashed through the glass in front of her, thank goodness she had her seatbelt fastened.
-Orlando, what are you doing!
-Get down! -Orlando ordered in disgust.
They were far from the village where the Cazalla family lived, a place where it was difficult to get a taxi. Orlando didn’t mind, however, and repeated in a louder tone:
-Get down now!
Vanessa unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the car without hesitation. And as soon as she closed the door, the car sped off.
-What an imbecile! -Vanessa cursed in the direction of the car.
Fortunately, she was carrying her purse. Her purse and mobile phone were there, so she would not be forced to walk back. So she called a friend when she had been waiting for more than forty minutes for a taxi, but at that moment her mobile phone battery died.
“What bad luck! I should have called her sooner! Surely, sometimes being too proud is something that makes you suffer!”
Vanessa stared blankly at the road, so she tried to stop the oncoming car, but the car didn’t stop.
When she got tired of standing, Vanessa sat down on the curb and saw a black Maybach in the distance.
At this point, the person driving was talking on the phone:
-Yes, I went to see the old house I bought some time ago. Okay, tomorrow…” Dylan suddenly stopped talking in surprise.
-Hey, Dylan, pick up. Are you coming tomorrow?
-We’ll talk about it.
Dylan quickly hung up the call, drove slowly to the kerb to verify that it really was his “wildcat” and smiled.
“Right, the Cazalla family lives at this address”.
Pi, pi, pi, pi!
Dylan honked the horn on purpose and saw Vanessa’s eyes glisten again when she looked up. So she hurried to the car.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
