Chapter 1: A Conspiracy in the Dark
Chapter 1: A Conspiracy in the Dark
The night is always a paradoxical existence; in the suburbs, far from the city center, it is quiet and
scary; while in the rainbow-lit city center, it is always noisy and crowded, like a leprechaun, driving
people crazy.
In a private villa of the Mo family in the suburbs of City A, a young girl in a bunny suit was sitting on the
sofa in the living room waiting for her lover to return; probably because she was a little impatient
waiting, she picked up her cell phone and quickly dialed the number that came first in her address
book.
The phone was quickly answered and the young girl's voice was clearly pouting as she said, "Owen,
why aren't you back yet? Have you forgotten what day it is today?"
"I won't forget, Leah. it's your 20th birthday, I remember, and I have a surprise for you, so be good and
wait for me there." Owen Lu on the other end of the phone placates her in a perfunctory manner.
"Really? Then you need to hurry up, I'm falling asleep." Leah Mo said with some whining, but more like
a little girl's pout.
"Okay, I'll be right there." With those words Owen Lu hung up the phone, he was currently staying in
the Buick outside the villa. In the car, besides him, was Leah Mo's cousin and best friend, Lucy Mo.
"Owen, are you still hesitating? It's not that you don't know Uncle's intentions; Uncle never treated you
as his own family. The will, as you saw, left everything to Leah and stipulated that Leah could only get
the inheritance if she married Vinson Gu." Lucy shook Owen's hand and said urgently.
"Lucy, don't do this!" Owen struggled to shake off Lucy's hand and slammed his fist hard on the
steering wheel.
Lucy held Owen's hand with some heartache, "Owen, I know you're kind. But now it's either she dies or
we die. Don't you forget that the company's overseas projects will be put in jail if they are really
investigated, and you don't want our child to be born with nothing, do you?"
"But even if she would pass the inheritance to me so easily, and Uncle Mo is just unconscious, if he
wakes up ......" Owen said with some hesitation.
"Owen don't forget, she doesn't know about Uncle Mo's coma, all Leah Mo's stupid ass knows is
painting and designer bags. Besides, my dad will take care of everything, it was all an accident, and
once she disappears, Mo's family is ours." Seeing that Owen still had some hesitation, Lucy hugged
him and whispered these words in his ear.
"I ......" Owen looked at the gentle Lucy, thought of how good she was to him, and thought of Leah's
rudeness and capriciousness. He gradually ruthlessly no longer hesitate, "Lucy, you do not say, I listen
to you."
"Ok, I knew you wouldn't let me down, I'll wait for your good news." Lucy Mo said while kissing Owen
Lu's cheek.
Owen Lu was about to say something else when the phone suddenly rang. It was Leah Mo calling. She
had waited in the living room until she was almost asleep, but not until her beloved one, so she was a
little impatient to call.
"Go ahead." Lucy Mo finished, turned around and picked up the file bag that was sitting on the back
seat of the car, handed it to Owen Lu, and said, "Don't forget the paperwork."
Owen Lu took the file, nodded to Lucy, then hung up the phone, got out of the car with the file, and
walked toward the villa.
After a long call to Owen with no response, Leah Mo was a little frustrated. She threw her phone on the
couch and looked at the cake and wine on the table, and the rose petals on the floor. Angry, she was
just about to destroy them all when the sound of unlocking came from outside the door. She stopped
what she was doing and sat down gamely on the couch without moving.
Owen Lu opened the door and walked in and saw the situation. Looking at the flower petals on the floor
and the cake, wine and candles on the table, he felt a twinge of guilt, then thought of Lucy, who was
still waiting for him outside, and made up his mind.
"Leah, I can only say sorry to you." Owen Lu said silently in his heart, then changed a gentle smile to
Leah Mo who was throwing a tantrum and said, " who made our little princess angry again? Quickly tell
me, I'll help you teach her a lesson!"
"Hm, who else could it be." Leah said as she refused to let him off easily and turned her head.
"Oh, yes, it's me. Today is our little princess' 20th birthday, and I'm late for such an important birthday,
so I deserve to be beaten." Owen Lu said, then made a gesture and continued to whack himself.
Leah Mo looked at rushing to stop him, but said with her mouth, "I told you to come late and still didn't
answer the phone, look, the cakes are cold, punish you to eat them all."
"Does the cake get cold, too?" Owen Lu said with a smile.
"It's my call, you're eating it or not." Leah Mo said, and then grabbed a handful of cream and wiped it
on Owen Lu's face. She was so fast that Owen Lu was caught off guard and was already a little
distracted, so he was touched in the face.
"Well, I worked hard to talk about now to buy certain people especially like the island. But even if you
don't like it, you're still bullying me, it's so cold ah." Owen Lu hurriedly put on an angry look and said.
"Ah, really, Owen you really bought that island shaped like a star?" Leah Mo suddenly got very excited
and jumped up and said.
She liked the island for a long time, but I heard that the owner of the island has a particularly strange
character and refused to sell it for any amount of money, saying that it was a wedding anniversary gift
with his wife, and she was unhappy about this for a long time.
"Of course it's true, I've brought all the documents for the name change, just waiting for you to sign and
seal them." Owen took out the long-prepared documents from the file bag and placed them in front of
Leah Mo, his hands still trembling a little from nervousness.
Leah, too happy to notice Owen's mood, took the document directly in her hand and looked at it, asking
skeptically, "How come this document is all in Chinese? I remember the owner of this island is French,
right?"
It's certainly not the real island renaming document, but that final estate transfer bogeyman, a forged
Leah Mo's will, but this Owen Lu won't tell her. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Oh, because of the deal in China, a different contract has been specially prepared, there is a French
version and a Chinese version, you can sign the Chinese version." Owen Lu said a little nervously as
he picked up his red wine glass and took a sip.
