Chapter 16
“Is he alright?,” I ask anxiously looking at doctor ZongHua who is laying on the bed unconscious and his student treating his wound. His clothes are on the floor which are drenched in blood.
“I’ve treated his wound but it will take for him to wake up,” he explains looking at his master who is fighting for his life.
“Is he poisoned?,” stepping forward I examine his state I bend low sitting on the floor leaning over the edge of the bed with curled up eyebrows.
“Yes but I sucked out the poison,” he states dressing his wound.
“They have been waiting for this day,” getting up from the floor I stare at doctor .
Everything seemed planned, they wanted to kill him.
But why?Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
“Take him somewhere safe,” ordering him I turn around to get the answers today.
“Where are you going?,” stopping in my tracks I turn to my left my eyes moving down to my hand which is held.
It’s the first time to hear him speak and it sounds familiar but my mind identification scanner is not effective right now.
Removing my gaze from my hand I move it up to see the person staring at me. I stare back at him trying to read his mind watching I to his eyes but my mind is already in a salad right now.
“None of your business,” shoving his hand away I pull my wrist from his grip and walk out.
Removing my mask in the woods I look around making sure no one watches me. I got to get back the letter to know what father has written and get back to the academy before it darkens.
Letting out a loud breath I kick the already broken door of the casino the old wooden door falls crashes on the floor and I keep a step in expecting to watch everyone stop their actions and look towards the doorway but ironically the noise in this place is louder than the crashing sound of the wood. You can find many men with different hairstyle and sizes in here , the shouting cheering and cursing are filled in the room making it even worse as space is small. Walking in I stroll to the end table in the corner.
“Hey… I’ll bet,” taking out my pouch of silver stones from my pocket I throw on the table, the bunch of people around the wooden table eyes glues on me.
“Come on,” I smirk pushing the leg of the person who has been standing beside the table by placing his feet on the bench cheering for his leader.
“You look to be a decent one in here,” the person seated in front of me laughs in sarcastic way his matted hair swaying to and fro.
“I ought to be dirty in games,” raising a brow up my lips twitches up to a smirk “What you got to bet?,” I ask raising my chin up by looking at the silver stones laid on the table beside his arm “Seems like the sun is shining on you,” I let out laugh.
“You can have all,” he sneers leaning forward in interest.
Pushing my pouch towards him I lean forward our face in a few distance “Why would I gamble for money,” I look at him with a look like that’s-nothing-to-me.
“Then?,” He questions his voice dry and rough.
“I’ll tell you later,” taking the jar I move my orbs up “The rules,” I scoff placing my right foot over the bench I lean forward in a comfortable position.
“The winner of two games wins,” the person standing in between us instructs “The one with more credit is the winner.”
“Who’s first?,”
“Let’s see what the small kid has got,”
“Alright,” rolling my sleeves up I take the jar and raise it up in the air I shake it hard making the three dice hit against each other inside the container.
Playing dice is something which I’m not good at as the thing called luck doesn’t drive towards me at any moment when I need it and I’ve never gambled over it as getting three sixes is like diving into frozen sea.
Slamming the jar on the table I lift the lid revealing the three dice with two sixes and one five.
The sound of loud and dry laughter of the men around me gets into my ears making me realise that I’m going to lose and this result is not a big deal.
The bulky man seated opposite to me raises his arm up which makes everyone to be silent, leaning forward with his eyes fixed on me, his lips twitches up to a smirk displaying his yellow set of teeth.
Standing up he takes the lid of the jar and closes it, staring at me he shakes the jar vigorously taking it all the way from my right ear to the left while I stare at him calmly but my inner being is eagerly waiting to watch the results.
Bending low he slams the jar on the table and lifts the lid casually revealing the dice of three sixes. He sits back relaxed like he expected it coming.
Nothing is going as I planned and this games is difficult than what I thought. I thought that it has nothing to with our stamina and intelligence but it has got something I guess.
He pushes the jar towards me with his finger and leans back looking at me with a look like let’s-see-what-you’ve -got.
Taking the jar I shake it examining the sound of the dice clashing, stopping my movement I place the jar slowly on the table, staring at the brown ceramic jar for a while I lift it up slowly a smile making its way on my lips every inch it moves up and there comes the three sixes.
Taking the jar anxiously he moves faster as earlier and slams the jar on the table lifting the lid he leans back roaring low.
“Both won each game, the third game decides the winner,” the other man announces.
I gesture him to start passing him a sly grin, he takes it and looks at me “Tell your deal?,” he questions holding the jar up in the air to begin.
“The letter,” placing my arms over the table I lean forward looking at his curious face “The letter which you stole from the mount Tian.”
Raising his eyebrows he glares at me and then looks around meeting the eyes of his people.
“Alright,” he grunts and begins to shake the jar.
