THE FORGOTTEN LUNA

Chapter 11

KAEL.

Landon volunteered to pick up the documents from Adessa's office.

As soon as he left and it was just the two of us, Dexter looked at me with raised brows. "Are you okay?"

"No. Adessa left." I grunted in a low voice.

"I heard."

"She took the wedding ring with her."

He shrugged his shoulders and eased back into his chair. "I expected that."

My hand resting on the table coiled into a tight fist. "Send someone to check all pawn and jewelry shops around the territory and the nearby cities. I want it back in my hands. I'll send you the description, including the code engraved inside it." "I'll do that."

"Do you know if she's seeing someone?" I asked after a while.

"What do you mean?"

"She said our marriage was already on the rocks before I had an accident, and we were already discussing divorce. I wonder if there was any man between us." Although Adessa claimed it was because of Desiree and me, I wanted to know more. He shrugged his shoulders again before speaking. "I didn't see anyone, but I heard rumors."

"Such as?"

"Look, Alpha. I don't think it's important now because you are already divorced and she has the right to move on."

"I want to know..." I was not able to stop myself from slamming my coiled fist onto the table.

"I heard it's an Alpha... but I'm not really sure. Like I said, I had never seen the Luna with him or any other Alpha."

"Luna with another Alpha?" Landon asked. I didn't even notice he came back already, as my attention was focused on Dexter.

I had to let my wolf out soon so my senses could be heightened again. Like pure humans, our senses were ordinary unless we were in our wolf form. But the more we let them out, the more they heightened in human form as well.

With me in a coma for months, it was not a surprise I became ordinary, but I knew in no time I could regain it as long as I kept letting my wolf.

"You're always with Adessa when she travels, right?" I asked Landon.

"Yes, me or one of my men." He replied, placing stacks of folders in front of me.

My eyes darted to them before returning my gaze to him. "Do you know who her boyfriend is?"

"What? You're her husband, well, ex-husband. So, why would she have a boyfriend?" He chuckled. "There are rumors going around that she was seeing an Alpha," I repeated what Dexter said.

Landon scoffed as he sat in his chair. "Well, it really does go around me, as I never seemed to get that rumor. But I can assure you that I have never driven the Luna or asked my men to take her somewhere for

a private meeting. She would always conduct her business in public places, and before you went into a coma, it would always be both of you meeting Alphas. The Luna

doesn't even have friends she met up with except the women working at the Women's Center, whom she would join for lunch from time to time. So whatever rumor you heard must be bullshit."

I let out a deep sigh and rested my back against my chair.

"And what's the big deal if she has? You divorced her, and now you're crying foul?" Landon sounded annoyed.

"Hey, watch your mouth." It was Dexter. "Did you forget you're talking to the Alpha."

"I know, but I was sure I was asked to protect the Luna, and I honestly feel bad that she is no longer here. I didn't even get to say goodbye to her or drive her somewhere to make sure she's safe." "She left of her own accord," I told him.

"Of course she did. Because I was

not here." I could sense his frustration. Landon was not here when I woke up and just returned to the territory early this morning. "And make

no on had the decency towing

sure the ex-Luna was safe. Knowing Luna Adessa, she would never demand anything. I bet she left

using public transportation."

"She doesn't have a car?" I asked.

"You bought her a car, but I saw it in the parking lot. She never drove it on

Ve

her own. You taught her how to drive, but she later confessed she felt anxious whenever she did, you never let her drive. And sometimes, she would rather walk than ask someone to drive for her."

He really talked highly of her, and it irked me. It was awakening something within me.

"You're acting as if she was a big loss." Dexter scoffed. "Are you the Luna's boyfriend?"

There. Dexter said my exact thoughts.

"Fuck, man. Do not put any color on my loyalty to her." He scowled at him, then turned to me. "But I could tell Adessa was the best thing that happened to you, Alpha. This might not be a popular opinion, but that woman is a gem." "A gem?" Dexter scoffed.

The two were still bantering back and forth, but I was done with the topic. I still had no idea what to think or do, so I grabbed the folders in front of me and started opening them one by one.

On the first paper inside a folder, was a neatly written current situation, history, and instructions for the case or project. I took a peek at the other folders, and it was the same thing. All dated yesterday.

She must have done it while she locked herself inside her office. She could have left without doing this, and yet she took time leaving instructions so we would not get lost without her.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

I closed the folder in my hand and placed it on the table. I eased back against my chair, tilting my head up on the headrest and closing my eyes.

Even with the letter and all the instructions she left behind so I would know what to do next, I still felt empty and lost. As if I had no idea where to start.

But the reality remained the same. She left.

I should be happy. I could marry Desiree like I had planned since I was a teenager. But somehow, it didn't feel right.
