Chapter 27
Lorraine chuckled. Too many people had the same first and last names, let alone merely sharing a last name. She didn’t think Logan had anything to do with the Moore family at all. With a yawn, she said, “Let’s sleep.”
Then, she turned away from Logan and quickly drifted off. Logan
envied her for falling asleep so quickly, unlike him. He tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep. It was mainly because he wasn’t used to having someone else in bed with him, especially when that person was his legally wedded wife.
He had never been in bed with a young woman before. It was only expected that he couldn’t fall asleep. The situation was different from last night when they had Finnegan and Luna between them, and he had slept beside Finnegan. It hadn’t messed with his mind.
Now that it was just him and Lorraine, he was hyperaware of her presence. She was so close that he could smell her scent. There was a hint of mangoes on her, perhaps because they had eaten mangoes- earlier.
“Raine?” Logan called quietly. There was no response. Lorraine was fast asleep. He sat up and leaned over to look at her. When he saw her sleeping soundly, he had no choice but to lie down again.
This time, however, he gently turned her around so that she was facing him while she slept. Then, he gently placed a hand on her waist so that it was as if he were holding her. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
The longer he looked at her, the prettier she became. Logan leaned closer and sneakily pecked her on the lips. Afraid that he would wake. her, he shot back as soon as their lips met. Then, he turned
his back. to her and listened for a response.
When she settled again, he turned to continue staring at her. He didn’t dare to do anything else–he was afraid she would catch him in the act. That would destroy her impression of him as an honest, down–to- earth man.
He didn’t know when it happened, but his eyelids started drooping. He shut his eyes, finally ready to fall asleep. Almost as soon as he drifted off, he was awoken by the sound of her phone ringing.
Lorraine shot up in bed and grabbed her phone to turn it off. It wasn’t a call–it was an alarm. Logan was taken aback. He couldn’t believe she had set an alarm for an afternoon nap.
“Sorry to wake you, Logan. It was just my alarm. You continue
napping while I get back to work.” She grabbed her glasses and put them on. The world became clear again.
Logan wanted to say something, but she had already left the cottage. He couldn’t help feeling relieved that the alarm hadn’t gone off when he secretly kissed her.
A flight from abroad landed at Glendale International Airport. The passengers got off the flight once the plane stopped.
Karen Stone was dressed in black from head to toe–even her sunglasses were black. Her long waves cascaded over her shoulders as she got off the plane and stared at the huge airport. She took her sunglasses off, silently saying, “I’m back, Glendale!”
She had left the country for some time and had returned to take over her father’s business because of his deteriorating health. Now, she was finally worthy of being his successor. She wondered
whether the man in her heart was already married…
