Chapter 36
Alicia had a vague impression that there were a lot of daily necessities in Mrs. Clements' house. There were some common brands among them.
She made a phone call to Mrs. Clements and briefly talked to her. Under Alicia's persuasion, Mrs. Clements finally agreed and took it as a return for the dishes she had given her.
After a short chat, Alicia hung up the phone.
Alicia then told her mother, "Mrs. Clements said that she will take one box. I'll go out later and send it to her! I might come home late. You can go to bed early tonight. You don't have to wait for me!".
She had to go dancing at the nightclub that very night. Coincidentally, she didn't need to find an excuse to do so anymore! Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
The reason her mother hit her for the first time ever was due to her going to the nightclub to work as a dancer. Alicia made it through the most difficult period of her life in the past three years. Currently, she was in urgent need of money again. Moreover, she only had to dance for at most an hour and a half. If she danced twice a week, she could earn a few thousand dollars. For her, this was the best choice.
After eating and packing up, Alicia hurried out of the door.
Because of the text message from Alicia, Frederick had to suppress his emotions strongly. He had stayed abroad for more than half a month due to his work, but he hadn't contacted Alicia ever since.
Unexpectedly, Alicia, the woman who told him that she missed him, did not contact him again even once more. He packed his belongings in a suitcase and pursed his lips with dissatisfaction.
Before getting on the plane, he checked the phone again. Then, he switched off the phone unhappily.
When Frederick entered the house, it was already eight o'clock at night. He took a shower and felt exhausted. Hence, he went for a nap. When he woke up, it was already past midnight. Touching the cold bed, it was as if he had returned to the nights abroad when he couldn't sleep. He got up and went to open a bottle of red wine.
"This d*mn woman!" he cursed.
How could she not return home at night even if he was not around? Didn't she know to call him and ask about him? If he didn't contact her, was she going to sleep in her parents' home forever?
Frederick didn't know that Alicia intended to return home the next day after work to do some cleaning. She did go back home previously, but she did not see him after returning to that house. Hence, she went to her parents' home again. Subconsciously, she would go back on alternate days to check if he had returned. She would then know even if he didn't inform her. However, she got too busy and eventually forgot about it.
Frederick picked up the wine glass but didn't drink
it. He hurled the wine glass on the ground angrily.
He had returned home. Why would he still need to sleep with the help of wine?
He dialed Alicia's phone number while standing in front of the wardrobe. Alicia was sleeping. When she heard her phone ringing, she picked up the phone in a daze without even looking at it.
"Hello-"
"Wait for me downstairs in half an hour's time. I'll pick you up!"
"Oh!" she mumbled.
With a snort, Alicia turned over and muttered, "Pick me up... What? Are you crazy! Why would you come and pick me up?".
She sat up abruptly and blinked her eyes while holding the phone in her hand. The screen of the phone had already darkened. Looking at it, she paused before coming back to her senses.
That was Frederick!
Was this a dream or was he back already?
She looked at her phone. It was twenty minutes past twelve.
"This lunatic, why did he call me up in the middle of the night?" she cursed.
She scratched her hair, yawned, and took a nap. When she opened her eyes, she saw that it was already forty minutes past twelve. She jumped out of bed and hurriedly cleaned up. She left a note for her mother in the hall. Then, she crept out of the house with a flashlight.
