Chapter 44 Avoiding her
Nora POV
Tears kept dropping from my eyes, as I stared at Ivan, who look shocked. I gulped down the lump in my throat. I tried wrapping my head around why Ivan was doing that, nothing seemed to be coming through.
He scoffed unbelievably, as he slowly let his hand fall freely beside him, before turning his gaze to look at me.
“What did you say?” He asked, maybe trying to be sure he didn’t hear me wrong, at that point, I know what’ll come next. My brother can be very crazy when angry, but no matter how angry he is, he has never hurt me.
“I… I love him Ivan.” I stuttered, with my heart thumping heavily against my chest, fighting for freedom before he unleashes his anger on me.
He scoffed repeatedly, as he tilted his head, looking confused and angry.
“How much words has he deceived you with? How much lies has he filled your brain with, huh? Do you even know what you’re saying Nora? Do you know what you’re saying? This bastard here, doesn’t love you, he’s just trying to use you, he’s my friend, and I know him more than you do.” He snapped at me.
“Ivan can you please…” Audrey tried talking, but he glared at him, making him shut his mouth. In my entire life, I’ve never seen my brother this angry, I’ve never seen him so hurt, and seeing him like this, hurts me, especially knowing that I’m the reason behind it. A few moments ago, I was happy, that the only man I’ve been nursing feelings for, thinking he doesn’t felt same way, finally told me his feelings, but now I don’t if I’m still happy, seeing that painful look on my brother’s face, hurts a lot.
He turned around slowly, and went back into his car. He hopped in and turned on the ignition, before driving out of the compound roughly.
Letting out a sigh, I turned to face Audrey, who had bloodstains on his lips and clothes, and without thinking twice, I threw my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly, while crying on his shoulder. Heaven knows that I never wanted this to happen, but here I am.
“Shhhhh! Everything will be fine.” He hushed me, as he patted my back.
After leaving his house, I drove back home. Parking at the garage, I turned off the ignition, and alighted from the car, before dragging my feet towards the entrance door. It took me forever, before I finally got to the entrance door, and I took a deep breath, before pushing the door opened.
Stepping into the living room, I sighed in relief, as I didn’t see anyone around. I headed straight to the stairs, and climbed it, after which I headed straight to my room.
Stepping into my room, I crashed on the bed, as I sighed deeply. The thought of everything that happened a few minutes ago, keeps tearing my heart into pieces, and just the thought of what Ivan said, disturbed my mind, but I already made up my mind that nothing was going to stop me, and that’s it…
Ivan POV
It’s been almost one week since the incident happened, and for these past few days, I’ve not spoken with Nora, I’ve been avoiding her. I know I’m handling this the wrong way, I shouldn’t be doing this, knowing how much it’ll hurt her, but I’m doing this for her own good. I know Audrey very well, we’ve been friends almost all our lives, and I know she’s here to play with my sister, like he had always done with other girls.
The sound of the footsteps, descending down the stairs, pulled my attention, and I didn’t bother looking to the direction, knowing who it would be.
She finally got the living room, and came to sit beside me, but I shifted from her.
“Ivan…” She called softly, but ignored her.
“Why are you doing this Ivan? You’re hurting me, don’t you know that?” She said in tears, as she took my hand, but I slowly slid my hand from her grasp, before standing up, and started walking towards the stairs, but her words cut through my ears, bringing me to an abrupt halt.
“Do you even love me as you claimed Ivan?” She asked the most shocking question, and I was forced to stopped walking, as I clenched my fist, while gritting my teeth. Did she just asked me that? Is she questioning my love for her? How could she?
“I doubt if you do. Yes! I know Audrey is a bad guy, you feel he’s not good for me, you’re just trying to protect me from getting hurt, but do you know that your protection is hurting me instead? Do you think I would’ve let myself fall in love with him, if I could control it?” She broke down in tears, and I felt my heart tightened in pains, seeing her like that, hurts me.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Turning around slowly, I closed my eyes briefly, as I threw my head back. As much as I want to get on with this, if anything happens to her, I’ll be sad about it.
I walked over to her, and squatted down to her size, before pulling her into my arms, while hushing her.
“Shhhhh! Don’t cry.” I hushed her, as I stroke her hair soothingly, and she stopped crying.
“Will you let me date him?” She asked, after a long silence, and I sighed.
“I’ll think about that.” I replied.
After consoling her, I finally left the house. Stepping out of the house, I walked over to the parking lot, and hopped in on my car, before driving out of the compound. While driving on the road, I couldn’t stopped myself from getting scared, as different thoughts kept conflicting on my mind, what if he ends up hurting my sister? What if he uses and dumps her? Just the thought of it all, freaks me out. I love my sister so much, I value her happiness, to watch someone hurt her, but then, it turned out that my protection, was actually having a negative effects on her, she seem to really be in love with Audrey, but my fear is, does he feels same way for her?
After driving for what seemed like forever, I finally stopped the car in front of the bar, where Audrey works. Since it’s Wednesday today, he must sure be in the bar by now.
Stepping out of the car, I took a deep breath, before heading to the door. As I walked into the bar, I was welcomed with the smell of alcohol and cigarettes, what do I expect from a bar? Not a delicious food aroma or soap scent, right?
I walked elegantly over to the counter, where Audrey was, ignoring the ladies that kept throwing glances at me, while some of them, whispering what I don’t know. I’m used to getting attention anywhere I go, so it’s not a big deal.
I finally got to the counter, and he was shocked to see me. Of course he should be, because even I would feel same, if I were to be in his shoes.
“Ivan?” He called surprisingly…
