Crushed Affections

Chapter 404 Not in This Lifetime

Bella was slightly distressed. She said, "It's not like we never gave it a shot. We just aren't suitable for each other. So, what's the point of forcing ourselves into another relationship?

"I don't plan on marrying once I have the child. I don't mind. However, can you do the same and stay unmarried? Not to mention, we won't be able to provide the child a warm and happy environment that they'll need." Dominic could barely keep his emotions in check as he said icily, "You should eat first. Otherwise, you'll lose your appetite once we finish arguing."

Hence, the conversation ended abruptly without any conclusion. Bella finished the meal unhappily and barely took a few bites before placing her spoon down.

After leaving the restaurant and getting into Dominic's car, Dominic suddenly said, "I'll transfer one of the properties I own to your name and have someone send the crib there. Will that ease your mind?"

Bella looked at him in shock. His sharp intuition undoubtedly let him pinpoint what was bothering her so accurately. However, she did not want to take a house from him for free either.

So, she said, "I have some money in my bank account. I'll give it all to you. You can consider it the downpayment for that house, and I'll slowly pay you the rest later."

Dominic finally lost his temper as he slammed his fist on the steering wheel. "What must I do to satisfy you? Why does every single thing between us have to be accounted for? "Bella, you can't draw a line between us. You'll never be able to, not in this lifetime!"

Bella instinctively clutched her belly, afraid he might do something out of anger. She was currently pregnant, so she couldn't fight him outright anymore.

At the sight of her defensive posture, Dominic took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. Then, he reminded her to put on her seat belt before he drove away, his expression dark. Once they returned to Bella's neighborhood, Dominic got down to open the car door for her. She thanked him and alighted the vehicle.

She had only taken two steps forward when she heard him slam the car door from behind her.

She slowly turned to look at him and assumed that he was still mad. She asked quietly, "Do you want to come up?"

He turned his back against her, his expression still dark, and said, "No! I can't afford to anger you, so the only thing I can do is avoid you."

She pursed her lips and quietly

He could not scold her, nor could he hit her. Hence, he could only vent his frustration in futile rage.

She hadn't gotten far when she heard his footsteps coming from behind her. It seemed that he had changed his mind.

However, Dominic did not walk by her side. He walked ahead to call the elevator first. His expression was so dark that it felt like he was moments away from losing his temper. Bella slowly followed him, and the elevator just so happened to stop on the first floor.

A few other people were in the elevator. Once inside, Dominic stood protectively in front of her, shielding her.

His posture resembled a hug, and though his face remained sullen, his actions were gentlemanly. Bella felt a warmth spread in her heart and allowed herself a brief moment of intimacy.

He locked the door behind him. His eyes were filled with rage and also a trace of confusion. He did not make any other moves, as if he was waiting to gauge her reaction to him. Bella subconsciously gulped, and her cheeks immediately turned red. "Don't do this..."

Dominic's voice was stubborn as he said, "But that's what I want to do. You told me yourself that we'll do it once I'm sober. Do I look like someone you could fool so easily?"

Bella never thought that he would still remember what had happened that day when he had been so drunk back then. Before she could devise an escape plan, he inched closer and kissed her.
