Love or Die: CEO’ s Daily Dose of Swoon (Cordelia)

Chapter 292

Chapter 292

Bill tried to keep a straight face but failed miserably, "Even if her work had nothing to do with our data, even if she had written a big fat zero, you should've thrown some cash her way... For the boss's sake, how can you not offer a dime? And you say 'priceless'? Priceless, my foot!"

After finishing his rant, Bill turned to Everard, calculating his next move, "Just name your price, man. The boss won't let the company suffer. He'll definitely figure this out!"

The R&D manager was at a loss for words, "...What I meant was, this answer can't be measured in money! We're talking shares here!"

Bill was taken aback, it took him a moment to catch on, "Wait, are you saying my sister-in-law got it right?"

"Absolutely! The process is crystal clear, it's the textbook answer, well, now it is since I've told you. You decide on the shares! This answer is the key to the whole project..."

Bill swallowed hard, "Are you sure you didn't make a mistake? My sister-in-law is just an 18-year-old girl..."

"I'm positive! But an 18-year-old solving this? Did the boss help her?"

That's when it hit Bill, he whispered into the phone, "You have no idea. The way the boss acts around her, it's just embarrassing. I'm ashamed to even talk about it!"

Everard, overhearing the entire conversation, was puzzled.

He then said, "You seem pretty free lately. Why don't you join us tonight?"

Bill's legs turned to jelly, "Actually, I just remembered, I have some contracts to sign, gotta focus on making money. Boss, I'm not cut out for this kind of physical work."

Everard gave him a cold look.

Bill nearly cried, "Boss..."

Before he could finish, Skyler clapped him on the shoulder, "Come on, it's been a while since we teamed up. Just thinking about it gets my adrenaline pumping!"

Bill was speechless.

Why did he have to badmouth the boss?

And Skyler, claiming to be scared but clearly excited, what was that about?

Bill gulped, "Last time, didn't you say you wanted an Omega watch? I've been thinking, I might have one for you."

Skyler's eyes lit up, "Are you trying to bribe me? In front of the boss? I'm so scared! What if he punishes me?"

After the excitement, he asked, "Which model? The latest one? I want it in black!"

Bill replied, "Just make sure I come back alive to get it for you, okay?"

"Got it, got it!" Skyler nonchalantly said, "Don't worry, you'll keep your life. Worst case, you might lose an arm or a leg."

Bill was even more terrified after Skyler's reassurance.

Turning to Everard, Bill's voice trembled, "Boss, you're coming too?"

Skyler added, "This one's dangerous, of course, the boss has to oversee it."

Hearing the situation was dangerous, the usually tough Bill felt his legs turn to jelly, "Boss, please spare me, I'm just good at making money, not fighting!"Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

That night, Cordelia was deep into solving a chemistry problem until 11 PM, eager to continue, but Lorna knocked on her door, "Lia, why aren't you sleeping with Merry tonight? Doesn't she need comforting?"

Cordelia replied, "She's probably focusing on her work, I shouldn't disturb her."

Lorna, skeptical, decided to investigate by offering to bring Merry a cup of warm milk.

Sighing at her daughter's lack of social skills, Lorna felt compelled to help. Returning after two minutes, she reported, "She's not crying, doesn't seem sad at all."

Lorna pondered for a moment, then realized, "Ah, she's turning her sorrow into strength!"

Cordelia was confused.

After Lorna's revelation, she advised, "But it's not good to force a smile, keeping all the sadness inside can cause problems. You should pay more attention to her, okay?"

"Okay."

Lorna then took a glance at the

problem in Cordelia's hand, intending to help, "Lia, you don't need to stress about exams anymore. What are you studying? Chemistry? If there's something you don't understand, I can teach you. My dad was a chemistry professor, and I was pretty good at it when I was young... Uh... What's this?"

All she saw were complex English terms and some chemical formulas, recognizable symbols for carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, but beyond that, Lorna was lost.

She coughed, "Well, maybe it's best not to look. This is too complicated. Time to sleep, it's 11! Girls need their beauty sleep, especially when you have a date with Mr. Watkins

tomorrow. Don't show up with dark

circles!"

Lorna's watchful eyes forced Cordelia to comply and head to bed early.

The next morning, Cordelia was up by six, studying at home before waking Little Parrot for school.

Seeing Lia diligently studying Italian, even listening to pronunciations on her phone, Little Parrot felt a surge of motivation.

With models of dedication like Lia, how could she afford to slack?

So, Little Parrot shook off her drowsiness and started studying her English vocabulary.

The duo stopped at Midnight Scent to pick up breakfast before Larry drove Little Parrot to school with her share of the meal.

After all, every day was a romantic adventure for Cordelia, and Merry felt like a third wheel tagging along. Thus, she took the initiative to part ways in the morning, seizing the opportunity to hit the library.

When Cordelia got off the car,

breakfast in hand, she entered the Midnight Scent café, arriving a tad earlier than usual. Everard wasn't at his usual post behind the counter. Instead, sounds from the backyard led her to find him emerging from there.

He looked as if he hadn't slept all night, his appearance a bit rough around the edges and dusty, as if he'd just rushed back from an exhausting journey.

But as soon as he appeared, Cordelia's gaze fixated on his shoulder.

Everard glanced down to see a large, bloodstained patch on his black shirt, the red stain making the fabric look even darker.

Caught off guard, Everard noticed the concern in the young girl's eyes. "Are you hurt?"

He was about to concoct a story to brush off her worry when her question made him tense up. Quickly covering his shoulder, he nodded, "Yeah, I

am."

Cordelia didn't probe further into how he got injured. Instead, she put down her breakfast and hurried over to support him. "Is it bad?" Everard, who was perfectly lively a second ago, suddenly adopted a feeble demeanor, “I might have lost too much blood, feeling pretty weak." Then, he dramatically slumped against Cordelia, feigning frailty, "Kid, it hurts a lot."
