Chapter 5 Escape From Him
Chapter 5 Escape From Him
The noise Charlotte made when she sat down attracted Oliver's attention. He looked at her up and
down as she was no longer wearing pajamas but a delicate coat as if she was about to go out, and
even her hair was tied neatly.
Oliver felt there was something strange, but he still looked away indifferently and continued to read the
magazine as if nothing had happened.
After all the dishes were served, the servant filled a bowl of soup for both of them and then left. Oliver
didn't like the servants to be around during the meal.
There were only Charlotte and Oliver left in the big dining room. It was so quiet that the air seemed to
have become solid, but Charlotte acted as if Oliver was not there and she just focused on eating.
Charlotte seemed to have a good appetite today as she hadn't eaten much these days. Now she
picked up a full plate of lobster, and a great amount of spicy crayfish was stuffed into her mouth.
Oliver frowned and asked, "Are you starving?"
Judging from the way she ate, people who didn't know them might think that the Shen family was so
poor that they didn't even give food to people living in their house.
Charlotte didn't want to talk to him at all, but since he had spoken first, she couldn't continue to ignore
him. She swallowed the food in her mouth and replied politely but distantly, "Yes, my family is poor, and
I can't afford such good food. It's rare for me to have so much delicious food, so I think I should eat
more to express my appreciation for your hospitality. I'm afraid that if I don't eat much, you will think
that I don't respect you."
Oliver sneered after hearing her. It was hard to tell what he was thinking from his expression. He just
pushed the plate of shrimp in front of him to her and said with a faint smile, "In that case, just eat
more."
Charlotte was slightly stunned. She stared at him vigilantly, and then took it without hesitation and
poured all the shrimp into her bowl.
After eating about half a bowl of shrimp, her plan seemed to have worked. She felt itchy all over her
body, and she felt like her throat was blocked. She seemed to have choked and almost couldn't
breathe.
Oliver glanced at her and asked indifferently, "What's wrong?"
"I..." With a pained look on her face, she staggered to her feet and fell into his arms before she took a
step forward. She gasped heavily. "Hospital... send me to... hospital..."
After saying that, she closed her eyes and fell down. Before she fainted, a trace of triumph flashed in
her eyes.
Oliver frowned and stared at the woman in his arms for a while. Then he called the servant in a low
voice, "Ask the driver to send Miss Charlotte to hospital."
"Yes, sir."
A few minutes later, Charlotte lied down in the back seat of the car. The driver started the engine and
drove her away.
Staring at the direction the car left, Oliver pondered for a moment and turned back to his room.
As expected, ten minutes later, he received a message from the driver.
"Mr. Oliver, something's wrong. I have sent Miss Charlotte to the hospital, but when I came back after
paying for the doctor's bills, she was missing!"
"I see. You can come back now." Hearing the news, Oliver showed no surprise as if he had expected it.
In fact, he had guessed it when he saw what Charlotte was wearing today.
But he didn't expect that this woman would really do such things to herself. In order to make an excuse
to escape from him, she even ate so much shrimp even though she knew that she was allergic to
seafood.
But she still had the strength to escape, so he guessed that her condition wasn't serious.
He slowly lowered his eyes and took a look at the file on the table. A photo of a man and a woman was
elegantly held in his hand, and a cold and gloomy smile appeared on his face. His thin lips moved
slowly. "Charlotte, I'm so interested in how you will react when you know that the person who betrayed
your family's company is your ex-boyfriend." Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
In the empty and dark street, people's shadows lengthened under the street lamps.
Charlotte walked slowly along the road alone. The cold wind swept across her face, and the streets
seemed even bleaker. The pain and itch on her skin had eased a lot, but she still felt weak and hard to
move.
Though she had escaped, it was just a piece of cake for Oliver to catch her back considering his power
and wealth.
At this moment, she could only think of one place she could go to.
She sighed deeply and hailed a taxi on the street. After telling the driver her address, she lay on the
back seat of the taxi with a little tiredness and closed her eyes to rest.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the destination. She took out the only two hundred bucks left in her
pocket and handed it to the driver.
Standing by the road, she looked up and saw one of the most famous wealthy neighborhoods in the
city. The people living here were either rich or powerful. Before the Shao Group went bankrupt, she
lived here with her family.
She had walked on this road for countless times since she was a child. Not far away, the place that
used to be her home had already been auctioned by the bank and replaced with a new owner.
Looking at the dim light in the house, she suddenly had a feeling as if it had been a lifetime. How she
wished she could go back home at this moment. How she wished she could hear and see the familiar
greetings and smiles of her family when she opened that door.
Tears welled up in her eyes. She sniffed and collected herself again, pretending to be strong. She knew
that she shouldn't be a coward because there was no one for her to rely on.
She never showed her weakness in front of anyone. Only in the dead of night, she would allow herself
to feel her sadness, and it wouldn't take long either. She was left no choice but to be a strong woman.
She continued to walk forward, stood in front of a villa, and knocked on the door with uncertainty.
The moment she reached out to touch the doorknob, she was surprised to find that the door was only
half closed and not locked. She opened it a crack.
Just as she was hesitating at the door, there was a faint noise coming from the second floor of the
house. She was stunned. After listening carefully, she found that there were a man and a woman
panting and groaning.
Somehow, she walked into the villa and went straight up to the second floor. The moment she opened
the door of the bedroom, she was completely shocked by the scene in front of her.
But the two people in the room didn't notice what was happening at the door at all.
