Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 40

Selena's eyes sparkled with excitement. "If you are on board, I'm definitely not saying no!"

Everett kept his expression neutral. "Keep going."

"Second, let's leave my family out of this. From now on, don't drag them into our issues to pressure me into doing things I don't want."

It hit her like a bolt from the blue. Even if Sydney looked down on her, she wasn't the type to reject an apology so stubbornly.

Plus, her uncle's embezzlement wasn't a new problem. Everett had let it slide and collected evidence each time, clearly saving it to use against her eventually. Maybe this was all a setup for Margot to make an entrance, but her sudden divorce plan threw a wrench in his works, making him play his ace too soon.

All for true love, huh? Quite the calculated move. A wave of bitterness washed over Selena.

Everett tapped his fingers lightly on the desk before speaking. "And the third condition?"

"The third," Selena said with a sly smile. "If we're talking about divorcing in six months, I'm not leaving empty-handed. But don't worry, I don't want half of everything. Just give me five percent of the shares in Bennett Corporation."

Everett might've been tough, but she couldn't deny his talent. Under his management, Bennett Corporation was flourishing. Even a small share would ensure she lived comfortably off the dividends.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.

Sure, she could make her own money, but who turns down more cash?

"Selena," Everett chuckled, "Demanding money so confidently, you're one of a kind. Do I look like a fool to you? Why are you asking for shares in Bennett Corporation?"

"Why shouldn't I?" Selena shot back. "Mr. Everett, you're not just holding off on the divorce because of your grandfather's health, right? The company's already shaky due to his health issues. If you divorce now, it'll definitely stir things up, which isn't good for Bennett Corporation. Plus, if your relatives get any wild ideas, you'll be in a tough spot, won't you?"

When Josh handed the company to Everett, he was young, and the Bennett family wasn't thrilled, but they held back out of respect for Josh. Now, with Josh seriously ill, any mistake from Everett and they'd jump at the chance to challenge him.

Everett's dark eyes narrowed, surprised by her straightforwardness. After a pause, he said ambiguously, "Selena, you've gotten sharper."

You bet!

Selena held back her frustration. "So, what's it gonna be? If you're in, we'll get the lawyer here to notarize and sign the contract right away of not... then we're done here."

Everett silently sized her up, and she stared right back, unyielding.

Hearing this, Selena let out a quiet sigh of relief. She'd won!

Five minutes later, Bradley strolled into the office, expertly drafting the contract based on their terms, e placed two copies on the desk.

Selena signed swiftly, and only then did Everett take the time to sign his name.

Seeing this, Selena finally let out a small smile. No matter what, there was now hope to end this mess of a marriage.

"If everything's in order with the contract, I'll be heading out." Selena picked up one copy and was ready to leave.

"Hold on a sec!" Everett's voice came, cool and steady.

"What now?"

"The seal needs stamping."

"Then stamp it!"

Selena handed over the contract, but instead of taking it, Everett clasped her wrist, pulling her gently.

Selena bent over the desk, leaning toward him. In the next moment, Everett's lips met hers.
