Chapter 482 Rachel Gave Birth
"Nothing. I'm just too happy." Jack waved his hand and smiled. The smile on his face reached his deep-set black eyes. He was so happy that he almost cried.
Rachel frowned. She couldn't help thinking inwardly, 'Is he happy that I've gotten so many pregnancy stretch marks?' All the while, she was worried that he would dislike her if he found out that her belly had become so ugly. She didn't expect that he would just say he was so happy.
She tried to figure out the possible reason for him to feel happy about the stretch marks, but she couldn't, so she gave up.
The next day, Rachel and Lea had afternoon tea. Rachel casually talked about Jack's reaction about her stretch marks. "It was my first time to see a man laughing when he saw pregnancy stretch marks. He wasn't disappointed at all."
While stirring her coffee, Lea commented, "Maybe it made him feel that you are really pregnant."
"I don't know. Actually, I was afraid that he would find out, so I hid them from him. I even stayed in the bathroom for a long time every day to secretly apply anti-stretch mark cream on my belly." Thinking of what she had done before, Rachel couldn't help laughing at herself.
At the hospital, she heard a lot of nurses complaining about their pregnancy stretch marks before. Since she wasn't pregnant yet at that time, she felt it wasn't really a big deal.
But now that it also happened to her, she realized that it was indeed a serious problem for women. More serious than she had imagined.
After all, no woman would want any parts of their body to look scary.
Lea took a sip of her coffee and suddenly put down the cup clumsily, causing it to spill on the table.
Although surprised, Rachel handed her some tissue and said, "What's wrong? You scared me.
"I just remembered something." The corner of Lea's mouth twitched. "Last night, I stayed a bit longer in the bathroom, and I caught Henry secretly peeping through the door. He pretended it was nothing, but I still asked him. Do you know what he said?"
Rachel blinked a few times while staring at Lea. She waited for her to continue.
"His answer was actually funny. He said that he wondered if I deliberately hid in the bathroom for a long time to send messages to another man secretly, so he checked on me. Unfortunately, I caught him." Rachel smiled helplessly. She couldn't help wondering the reason why Jack had done the same thing. No wonder he had been so happy when he found out the truth.
Rachel and Lea chatted for a while before they said their goodbyes and parted ways.
When Rachel arrived home, she found out that Jack was in the baby's room. He was doing something while humming a happy tune. Ever since they'd reconciled, Jack developed a new habit of going to different baby stores to buy all kinds of toys and baby stuff. He would then arrange them inside the baby's room.
Rachel found it crazy, so she tried to stop him. However, he didn't listen to her.
Jack was carefully putting a doll on the windowsill when Rachel entered the room. She slowly walked to him and hugged him tightly from behind. "Jack, don't worry. Even if I want to send messages to someone else, I won't hide in the bathroom. It's not comfortable there at all."
"What messages? I don't understand," Jack stammered as his face changed.
Rachel chuckled but didn't answer. Actually, she was amused by his reaction. She found him cute.
Two days had already passed Rachel's expected date of delivery, but she didn't feel any labor pains yet. As a doctor, she didn't panic. She knew that this kind of situation was usual.
Some women gave birth ahead of their due dates while some were late. As long as the delay didn't take more than two weeks, it wasn't a problem at all.
But Jack had always been panicky. Every morning he woke up, he asked, "Honey, do you feel any pain?"
Before going to bed in the evening, he always reminded her worriedly, "Honey, if you feel uncomfortable, tell me immediately. If I can't wake up, pinch me hard." Every time, Rachel would only smile and say, "Okay."
Tonight, Jack said to her, "What's wrong with our baby? Why it's not coming out yet?"
"Maybe it feels too comfortable to stay in my belly," Rachel replied. She then turned off the bedside lamp and said, "Let's sleep."
Rachel had actually stayed in the hospital a week ago to prepare for her delivery. But unexpectedly, she didn't show any signs of giving birth.
She stayed in a VIP ward, so she always felt bored. Feeling uncomfortable, she requested to go home.
At first, Jack and Jonathan didn't agree. But since she insisted, they had no choice but eventually gave in.
Tracy, who was also a little worried, just poked her forehead and said, "You've never been like this before. Why are you becoming more and more capricious now?"
Rachel also didn't know. Maybe her pregnancy had really caused so many changes in her attitude.
Jack looked at her worriedly before he lay down.
In the middle of the night, Rachel was awakened by a sudden burst of pain. Her belly and the back of her waist were inexplicably aching.
She reached for Jack and tapped his back. "Jack, my belly hurts."
Jack was still sleeping soundly. He was actually dreaming. When he saw the nurse carrying his baby, he walked up to her to see if it was a boy or a girl. Suddenly, he felt pain on his back as if someone hit him. He sat up in a trance and turned to look at Rachel. "What's wrong?"
"Hurry up! I can't take the pain anymore..." Beads of sweat poured over Rachel's forehead, and her pale face twisted in excruciating pain.
Seeing her like that, Jack panicked at once. He was at a loss.
He looked so funny but Rachel couldn't afford to laugh because of the unbearable pain. She screamed again and again, causing Jack to panic more. Fortunately, the pain gradually dissipated, so she was able to say, "Jack, call the
nor
ambulance quickly while can still hold it."
It was only then that Jack seemed to have realized what was really going on. He hurriedly looked for his phone on the bed and flipped through the contact lists with his
trembling hands. As soon as b

got connected, he shouted hysterically, "Send an ambulance
call
here quickly. My wife is about to give
birth!"
Trying to recall what he had learned about giving birth online these past days, he held Rachel's hands tightly and said, "Rachel, don't be nervous. Relax. Come and take a deep breath with me." Despite the pain, Rachel couldn't hold back her laughter anymore.
She grabbed Jack's sleeve and said, "Jack, it's only normal for me to feel this kind of pain. Don't worry too much."
"I'm not worried," he denied. But the beads of sweat that streamed down from his forehead didn't seem to agree.
Finally, the ambulance arrived. Jack breathed a sigh of relief. But when Rachel was sent to the delivery room, his legs suddenly felt weak. He stumbled and was about to fall.
Fortunately, Michael and Marcus, who arrived quickly, were there to support him.
They helped him sat on the bench beside the door of the delivery room. Michael looked at him and asked uncertainly, "Are you not feeling well?"
But Jack seemed not to hear
Michael's question. He just stared at the red light above the door to the delivery, foom, looking very nervous. Henry rushed over to them and said, "He's okay. That's only normal for a husband. You two will know it when you become a father."
He was about to pat Michael's shoulder, but Michael dodged his hand. With a hint of disgust on his face, he said, "Forget it. I told you, don't curse me. I don't want to be a father for at least five years." While waiting, the three of them chatted and laughed. Jack sat on the bench alone, with his back straight. His eyes never left the door of the delivery room. Even when Jonathan and Tracy arrived, he didn't spare them a glance.
His attention was focused on the delivery room. When he heard Rachel's painful cry, he immediately stood up and rushed to the door. He tried to open it, but he was stopped by them.
Tracy chuckled and said, "Son, don't be so spineless. Rachel is just giving birth. You just don't know how funny you look now. Do you want to be a laughingstock to everyone?"
If it was in a different situation, Jack would have retorted at once. But this time, he didn't say a word. Instead, he walked back and forth anxiously and kept mumbling, "I don't know how Rachel is now. She must be in severe pain."
Two hours of waiting had quickly passed.
The door of the delivery room was finally opened from the inside. The nurse walked out and said with a smile, "Congratulations. It's a baby boy."
As soon as Tracy heard that it was a boy, she smiled happily and held Jonathan's hand. "Great! We finally have a cute grandson."
Jack didn't mind what the nurse had said. When he saw that the door of the delivery room opened, he immediately walked up to Rachel and looked at her lying on the bed. Her hair was wet with sweat. She indeed looked messy.
His deep-set black eyes filled with pity. He held her hand and kissed it gently. "Honey, thank you.
The nurse carried the baby to the crib. He was crying so loud, but Jack seemed not to hear him.
After a long while, Jack finally came back to his senses. That was the only time that he noticed the baby's cry. He stood up and picked up the baby from the crib. But then, he frowned and said, "Why is this baby so ugly?"
The baby might have understood Jack's negative comment because he cried out loud again. Perhaps, he felt depressed being called ugly by his own father. Jack didn't know that babies really didn't look cute a first sight they were born.Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
