Chapter 1107 A Lesson Learned
Her smile was rather displeasing to the eye, like a thorn soaked in poison, slowly corroding her flesh
and blood.
To Bailey, if Artemis didn't explain himself, she could only make blind guesses, which greatly increased
the chance of misunderstanding.
But she couldn't really be blamed for that. After all, the man had never said a word about it.
Even if she misunderstood him, he deserved it.
Rebecca said, "We bathed together, enjoyed wine together, lay on the rocking chair, and admired the
moon together. We did everything together. Ms. Jefferson, you're a smart woman. Don't you already
know what my relationship with him is? If a man is willing to do all this for a woman, it should be
enough to prove that they adore each other."
"Enough." A deep voice echoed from the spiral staircase.
The imposter Artemis descended slowly, one hand clutching his shoulder, the other resting on the
handrail, his steps weak and unsteady.
"Bailey, even though Rebecca and I were not fully clothed, nothing actually happened. Don't be
stubborn and make a fuss. I've said it before, Rebecca and I are just friends. There's no romantic
involvement between us. Stop harping on about this."
Bailey chuckled, a hint of melancholy in her expression.
"I didn't expect that one night wouldn't be enough for you to think things through clearly. Since that's the
case, I can't be bothered to pursue it any further. Since you two share a romantic history, why not get
back together? Although I may be a bit assertive, I'm still sensible. In the past six months, Artemis has © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
indeed been mine, but it still doesn't compare to the years you two have spent together. I think I can
step aside for you two."
After she finished speaking, she turned around and walked toward the exit.
Upon receiving Ken's suggestive glance, the imposter Artemis quickly rushed forward to grab Bailey's
arm.
"Bay, listen to me. I—"
Bailey abruptly shook him off and strode toward the door. "Cameron, come with me. Let's not disturb
others."
The commotion in the main house instantly alerted all the servants in the manor, who quickly flocked
into the courtyard.
Everyone saw Bailey walking ahead, with the imposter Artemis chasing after her.
Perhaps his movements were too vigorous, causing his wound to tear open. Fresh blood seeped into
his white shirt, forming a prominent stain.
As he kept walking, he began to feel his strength wane, causing his steps to gradually slow down.
Rebecca quickly moved to steady his faltering frame. "She's so cold-hearted and untrusting toward
you. Why do you still insist on tolerating her scorn?"
He was once so proud. How could he lower himself so much for a heartless woman?
That is his dignity, something he has always cherished. Yet now, he has given it all up for a woman.
With that thought, she steeled herself and yelled at Bailey's retreating figure, "That's right. Mr. Luther
and I slept together last night. He is my man now. Bailey, as you leave so freely today, I hope you can
maintain this openness in the future. Don't continue to pester him."
With an air of indifference, the imposter Artemis shrugged her off and turned around to return to the
living room under the watchful eyes of the servants.
Ken shouted at the butler at the side, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and get a doctor! Can't you
see that Mr. Luther's wound has torn open?"
"Yes, yes, I'm on it."
Rebecca stood still, glancing in the direction Bailey had left, then toward the living room of the main
house. A trace of confusion flickered in her eyes.
Is the relationship between Artemis and Bailey so fragile?
Not to mention that nothing happened between us last night, even if something did happen, it was only
under circumstances where we had no other choice.
Is Bailey really so heartless, not even giving him a chance to explain, and directly severing all
emotional ties with him?
No, that's not right. There must be more to the story.
Rather than believing the two had completely fallen out, she seemed more inclined to think that this
was all just a play they were putting on.
Why is Faceless scheming against me and Artemis? Isn't it just to strike at Bailey through this?
Bailey and Artemis naturally played out this farcical act, most likely putting on a show for Faceless.
With this realization, her previously elated mood vanished in an instant.
However, the thought of Artemis still being in this manor gave her hope, and she felt relieved.
In this world, everything can only be obtained through one's own efforts, including love.
So no matter what, I have to give it my all.
After leaving the manor, Bailey and Cameron got into the car parked by the roadside.
The moment the car door closed, Cameron hurriedly asked, "Is it true that Artemis and Rebecca are
together?"
Bailey had just picked up an orange when she heard his question. She promptly threw the orange at
him.
"What the hell," Cameron cursed under his breath, looking at the orange in his hand. Without a second
thought, he started peeling and eating it.
The instant the slice of orange found its way into his mouth, he clutched his cheek and howled, "Ow, it's
so sour! D*mn, what kind of taste is this? How can you eat something that's sour enough to make your
teeth fall out?"
Bailey looked at him coldly, letting out a scornful laugh.
Can a normal person eat what a pregnant woman eats?
The orange was too sour for him, yet for her, it was a delightful treat that soothed the unsettling turmoil
in her stomach.
She swiftly snatched the unfinished orange from his hand and stuffed it into her mouth in a few quick
bites.
Cameron was utterly distressed. As he watched her eat, he felt as if he was consuming the fruit
himself.
"I really can't stand you anymore. You're such a bizarre woman. Thank goodness I don't have to marry
you. Oh right, you still haven't answered my question yet."
After Bailey had eaten an orange to quell the nausea in her stomach, she began to tell him about her
plans with Artemis.
Cameron's eyes widened. "Wow, I didn't know you could play like that. But don't trust Artemis too
much. Based on what I've observed these past few days, there's definitely something strange going on
between him and Rebecca. It's not that he's particularly fond of Rebecca, but rather that he's under her
control. I always feel like they're hiding something important from us. Can't you get any information out
of your man?"
Bailey glanced at him, not wanting to speak, and closed her eyes to rest.
Cameron snorted. "Just as I thought, you can't handle him. If you ask me, your man needs to be taught
a lesson."
Bailey was feeling a bit uneasy. She didn't want to hear about Artemis and Rebecca's issues right now.
Seeing that Cameron was about to make another sarcastic remark, she quickly changed the subject.
"Have you heard any news about Blaze?"
The smile on Cameron's face wavered, then slowly faded away.
"No. I've deployed ninety percent of the Yablon family's manpower to investigate, but there's no sign of
her anywhere."
Bailey raised an eyebrow and asked, "I can help you lure her out. Would you like to give it a try?"
Cameron sat up straight. "How?"
"I'll poison you, and then lure her out by offering the cure."
Cameron glared at her, speechless. "Are you joking? I come from a family known for their expertise in
poison-crafting. Is there any poison I can't neutralize? This trick won't work. She won't fall for it."
A cunning glint flashed across Bailey's eyes.
"There's a poison you can't neutralize."
