Chapter 975 Grant Her A Bottle of Poison
Chapter 975 Grant Her A Bottle of Poison
Bailey was stunned for three seconds. Once she regained her senses, she quickly asked, “Is there a risk to life?”
Zeke shook his head, his gaze falling on the tightly closed laboratory door.
“I'm not entirely sure. Artemis didn't tell me much. He should be in the main house. Why don't you go ask him?”
As Bailey nodded, she simultaneously removed her white lab coat, and said, “There are professional doctors inside. Nothing will go wrong.”
“If there's any change in the situation, call me immediately. I won't leave the manor, so I assure you that I'll be there at a moment's notice.”
Zeke responded lightly, “You should hurry and find out about Simon's situation. The Rogers family is in quite a mess right now. If something really happened... Well, there shouldn't be any problems. There won't be.”
Without uttering another word, Bailey took off her coat, rolled it into a ball, and tossed it to Zeke. Then, she strode towards the staircase.
Inside the study of the main house.
Artemis leaned against the window, making several phone calls in a row, mobilizing all of Luther Group's forces in Gregan.
Although he didn't want to incite panic among the local forces, he had to prepare for the worst with Simon now trapped and his fate uncertain.
If the Rogers family truly did murder his brother, then there was no reason for this family to continue existing.
He would exhaust all his power to completely annihilate it.
The door swung open, and Bailey rushed in hurriedly.
Seeing Artemis on the phone, she swallowed back the words that were on the tip of her tongue.
On her way, she tried to contact Catherine, but the response indicated that she was out of service area.
She had thought the final battle would come a few days later, which is why she had started dealing with Juliana's matters.
Now that a problem had suddenly arisen, she simply couldn't excuse herself.
If only Catherine had the courage to engage Broderick in a lengthy conversation, buying them enough time to rescue Simon.
After Artemis ended the call, he took the initiative to tell her about the situation at the Rogers residence without waiting for Bailey to ask.
“So, you're saying that Mr. Joseph doesn't realize he has caught Simon, and he just thinks he's a
bodyguard for Catherine?”
“Well, after all, Simon is in disguise, so it's normal not to recognize him. However, we can't delay this matter anymore. It's best to get him out as soon as possible.”
Bailey guessed what he wanted to do. She pondered for a moment, and then suggested, “After you disguise yourself. Why don't you pay a visit to the Rogers family?”
Simon is your younger brother, it's only natural that you're worried about him. However, I can't leave the mansion, Juliana is at a critical juncture.
“You must be extremely careful without me accompanying you. Also, don't get me involved in any troublesome affairs.”
Artemis pulled her into his arms, planting a kiss on her forehead.
“Thank you for your understanding. I will take good care of myself. Don't overwork yourself at the manor, and if anything comes up, contact me immediately.”
“Alright,” Bailey agreed without hesitation, “I'll make the mask for you. You take care of everything else outside.
“When it's time to leave, inform me. When the time comes, I'll lead a team to storm into the Rogers family's residence and rescue you all.”
“Mm-hmm.”
The Rogers residence
Broderick's residence.
Karen sat in the living room, her eyes red and swollen, her face still wet with tears as she looked rather disoriented.
Her son hadn't returned yet, and with the situation outside being so dangerous, she guessed something must have happened.
At that moment, the butler hurried in from outside, addressing Karen, “Madam, there's trouble. Mr. Wilbur has been detained in the main house by Ms. Catherine.”
Upon hearing this, Karen abruptly rose from the sofa. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
The thing I feared the most has indeed happened.
It still happened, didn't it.
“Where's Mr. Broderick? Where is he now?”
“Inside the conference room, Ms. Catherine led her team in a furious counterattack. He personally directed the battle, dealing with the opponent's onslaught.”
Karen paced towards the outside. “Wilbur must be fine, he must be. Come with me to the conference room.”
“Yes.”
Inside the conference room.
Broderick sat grim-faced in front of the sofa, listening to the reports coming one after another from his subordinates below.
“Has she lost her mind? Would she rather perish together than cease fire and negotiate a way out for herself?”
“Mr. Broderick, if we continue to operate the way she does, we'll suffer heavy losses in no time.
“Even if we end up winning, it will be a Pyrrhic victory. The cost we'll have to pay will far exceed our budget.”
Broderick rubbed his eyebrows and squinted before he said, “I thought that girl was holding Wilbur hostage to force me into sparing the second branch of the family and giving them a way out.
“Now, she has him in her grasp, yet she still attacks so fiercely. I really can't figure out what on earth she wants to do.”
An elder suggested, “Perhaps Ms. Catherine is waiting for us to take the initiative to negotiate with her. Why don't you give her a call and have a good chat with her?”
“Simply put, as long as she ceases his attacks, we will offer the second branch of the family a way out, allowing them to leave. We guarantee that we will not send assassins after them in the future.”
Broderick nodded, then he picked up the communicator from the table, and found Catherine's number, and dialed it.
Once the call connected, Catherine's voice came from the other end of the line. “Uncle Broderick, are you calling me at this hour for a negotiation?”
Broderick said in a deep voice, “Yes, I am indeed here to negotiate with you. Let's call a truce, and not fight anymore.
“If we continue down this path, we might end up hurting each other. Why put ourselves through that?
“How about this, you cease fire, then release Wilbur, and I will spare everyone in the second branch.”
Catherine gave a faint smile, her voice cool and detached, “But my father disagrees. He says he'd rather die in battle than live a life of dishonor.”
“Since this is his wish, I can only support him as his daughter. So, Uncle Broderick, I'm afraid you'll have to fight me to the end.”
Broderick gritted his teeth, and said sternly, “You regard him as your father, but has he ever treated you like his daughter?
“There's something you might not know yet. As your uncle, let me have a good chat with you about it.
“Your father is the epitome of a wolf in sheep's clothing, incredibly deceitful. All these years, he never once considered giving you the Rogers family's inheritance.
“Just a few days ago, he invited a renowned international doctor to come and treat your younger brother.
“He's just biding his time, waiting for his son to get better. Once that happens, he'll kick you aside without a second thought. You're nothing more than a shield to him.”
Even though he was mentally prepared, Catherine still experienced significant emotional turbulence after hearing Broderick's revelation.
She couldn't, and wouldn't, believe that all these years she had been nothing more than a pawn. A decoy to draw away the overt and covert attacks aimed at her younger brother.
The harsh reality told her that all of this could very well be true.
“Uncle Broderick, stop spreading your tales here. I won't believe you.”
“Now, if my father wishes to remain in power, then I'll have to remove all obstacles in his way.”
After she finished speaking, she immediately hung up the phone.
If this conversation had taken place a day earlier, she would have definitely accepted Broderick's proposal.
But right now...
She had no way out.
She must do as her father demands, otherwise Simon would die.
Broderick stared at the disconnected call. A murderous intent rose in his eyes.
