Swept Into a Fairytale Marriage

Marriage 40

Chapter 40 Grandpa’s Urging

“Sure, Grandpa. I’m fine with it as long as he has the time.” She had the knack for making the old man smile.

In the study room next door, Adrian recalled the memories from 18 years ago after being asked about Enduring Moments. He thought of that little girl he met in kindergarten…..

That was the first time he met Nettie Holden. He hadn’t expected her to transfer into his class in high school under a different name after more than a decade apart. It was as if all those years of longing no longer drifted into uncertainty and had finally found a place to rest.

However, fate had its own plans. How many people truly got to spend their lives with the one they loved in the end?

How many woke up each morning to find their beloved next to them?

Adrian would feel a faint ache tugged at his heart whenever he thought of Sierra. The lingering regret made it impossible for him to move on.

No amount of money could buy love. This realization brought a profound sense of helplessness to him.

Farrah was enjoying her conversation with Philip on the terrace. However, her thoughts wandered back to her last visit with Adrian to Locke Manor after hanging up the phone. That was the first time she met Sheila.

Adrian was the one who said that his mother wanted to meet her.

However, his mother didn’t even respond to her greeting when they finally met, let alone having a conversation.

Farrah could never forget the look in his mother’s eyes that day. It wasn’t just a cold glance. There was a sense of chilling wariness and guardedness in her eyes.

Farrah often pondered the strange relationship between the mother and the son.

She returned to the guest room with the laptop in her arms as the night deepened and took a shower before getting ready for bed.

Meanwhile, Adrian walked out of the study room and headed straight to the master bedroom.

He looked at the empty bed after taking a shower and couldn’t help but recall the morning when he had noticed small red stains on the sheets.

It was Farrah’s first time. A subtle wave of emotion would stir within him whenever he thought about it. The sound of an incoming video call interrupted his thoughts just as he got into the bed.

Adrian glanced at his phone and saw that it was his grandpa.

He raised his eyebrows and rushed out of the room before knocking on the guest room’s door. Farrah heard a knock on the door right after she settled under the cover. She sat up and asked, “What is it?

“It’s a video call from Grandpa,” he said with a deep and magnetic voice. “Come over here for a moment.” She quickly lifted the cover and slid into her slippers before unlocking the door. “What’s wrong with Grandpa? Is he okay?”

Adrian grabbed her by the wrist and led her to the master bedroom without any explanation. She thought

something had happened to Philip.

The phone was still ringing when they entered the room. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

He pulled her to the bedside and picked up the phone as he looked at her with his deep eyes. “Please play along. Mrs. Locke.”

Farrah came to her senses and looked at him as he swiped to answer the call. “Hello, Grandpa,” he greeted with a warm smile and a gentle tone.

“You little brat! What’s going on with you?” Philip was irritated. “What took you so long? What were you doing?”

“I was in the shower, Grandpa.” Adrian held the phone further so Philip could see his pajamas and wet hair.

“Where’s Fay?” the old man asked.

Adrian turned the camera toward Farrah who was sitting on the bed. She played along perfectly with a smile. “Hello, Grandpa.”

The old man was extremely delighted when he saw her in pajamas and sitting on the bed in the master room. “You two get in bed. Get comfortable under the covers before I have a proper conversation with you both,”

Adrian glanced at Farrah. She met his gentle and deep gaze as she gently lifted the covers before slipping into them.

He followed suit with the phone held in his hand and wrapped his arm around her shoulder as he pulled her closer so Philip could see both of them on the screen.

The close distance between the two made Farrah’s heart race. She couldn’t help but blush as she caught

faint scent of his freshly showered skin.

Philip was overjoyed at the sight of that and said with a smile. “Adrian, how about you two come back for dinner every Friday from now on and stay the night?”

“That sounds good, Grandpa.”

Philip was thrilled when his beloved grandson agreed without hesitation. “You two are truly starting to look like a perfect match. You must cherish each other and have children soon,”

Farrah leaned into Adrian’s embrace and gradually rested her weight against him as she felt the warmth of his chest. “Grandpa, how have you been lately?” She tried to change the subject.

Adrian felt the warmth of her body and couldn’t help but feel a rush of heat.
