The Alpha’s Little Luna

He Is Calling

Saphira’s POV

A week in human town and I feel so drained.

I know it is the mate pull that weakens my wolf Estrella constantly. She needs her mate, now that we have started the mating process she longs to complete it. And besides all this, Jace’s wolf calls her, he lures us to him. Every night he lets out a loud painful howl across the land, intended to connect his wolf with Estrella so he knows where to find us. But I have Estrella well under control, without my consent, she cannot respond to her mate’s call. But the howls do make me shiver with anticipation, longing for another passionate night. But I vigorously fight it, I won’t give in.

Estrella wants to surrender, she wants to be with her mate just like he wants to keep us with him. Every day she urges us to go back to Midnight Moon, to our handsome mate. And then she imprints his amazing body on my retina. Every day I see those long golden locks I had gripped in ecstasy, his fully inked muscular body that scratched when the pleasure became too much for me to hold.

So for my human side, it’s a double battle against my wolf and Jace every single day. And Jace’s howls have a massive effect on Estrella, the longer she stays away from him, the worse her suffering. Jace is a Beta, the radius in which his wolf can exercise his authority is extended. And besides, we are not far from his pack, Midnight Moon is a half-hour drive from here. I don’t know how long I can keep this up, maybe I have to pull further not to hear the howls anymore.

But that means I’ll be further away from my pack.

Silver Moon is my life, I want to stay there till death. If only I hadn’t impulsively driven out of my pack that day to follow my Luna, I would never have met Jace and my life would be less complicated now. I know he’ll do anything to find me, maybe if I stay out longer, he’ll give up eventually and forget about me. Then I can calmly sneak back to my pack and forget that I ever met him.

Going back undetected comes with some challenges. I will have to avoid Mercedes and give up hope of taking my Luna to Silver Moon. Also, I will have to live without a wolf for some time. At least until Estrella heals. The traditional healer in the pack may know how to heal Estrella faster. Silver Moon is big enough to go into hiding, I’ll just move out of the packhouse and rent a house on the far border. That’s my perfect plan.

I now walk down the street where I rent an expensive apartment. Now is the time to call Glary, he must have left the pack for training by now. I texted him the day I got here to reassure him I was okay and promised to tell him more when I was settled in my new environment. No details, I know how mean Glary can be. He could be blackmailing Zane with this for Mercedes’ sake.

Damn! This mating could end badly for Mercedes and Zane. ‘That’s why we have to go back, Saphira. I beg you, let’s go to our mate, we have no other way out,’ I hear Estrella begging weakly. And again, I push her away, thinking I must quickly find the medicine man to keep her well.

When I want to open the door of my apartment, I feel a haze of dizziness in my head. My fingers tremble and my surroundings begin to spin like a carousel. I barely manage to grab the door frame, but I can only hold myself for a few seconds.

‘Estrella, Estrella!’ I call to my wolf. ‘What’s happening to us? Why do I feel so dizzy?’ I ask her. I hear her sigh from afar. ‘I’m too weak to keep your mentality up, Saphira. I’m at the end of my rope. You can’t handle this any longer. We really need to go back, we’ve gone too far.’

Before I can answer her, I fall into darkness. My body drops to the floor like a rag doll. It’s all too much, that was the end of my strength.

When I open my eyes again, I’m lying on a couch.

“She’s awake,” I hear a voice close by. I still feel too weak to get up, so I try to fib on my side. But then the dizziness comes back slightly and I stop trying.

“Hey take it easy. You don’t have to be in a hurry”, I now hear a female voice next to me. She helps me sit up against a pillow. I catch her scent because of her close proximity, she is a werewolf and of high ranking too.

“I’m Elise and this is de Gamma of my pack, Kenry. We are on our way home after a business trip. We are actually your neighbors, we found you in front of your apartment”, she explains to me. I close my eyes and take a few deep breaths. Her scent is so familiar but without Estrella, it’s impossible to tell the pack she belongs. And then I see the Gamma standing behind her, his face is questionable as he looks me straight in the eye.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.

“Which pack are you from? Can we reach someone to pick you up? You are clearly not in good shape. We won’t let you leave here alone,” he states firmly. Elise comes with a glass of water which she holds out to me. I drink it greedily and immediately feel much better. My phone is in my back pocket, I pull it out and press a number from my contact list.

“Glary? I became unwell in my apartment. Could you pick me up? My neighbors won’t let me leave alone and are on their way back to their pack,” I ask my best friend.

I give him the location and he promises to be there in a few minutes….
