Chapter 41
Kieran scoffed, "She has to clean up her mess. Without the Dawson Group, she's nothing but a regular Jane."
Just then, the office landline rang.
Kieran picked it up, and the receptionist said, "Mr. Sutton, a lady here claiming to be from the Dawson family, wants to meet with you."
Hearing Freya had arrived, Kieran leaned back in his armchair, smirking, "Let her come up."
"Right away, Mr. Sutton." The receptionist hung up.
Soon, Kara walked in, her dress strikingly similar to one of Eloise's classic white gowns. As she pushed the door open, she saw Kieran buried in paperwork. Without looking up, Kieran jeered, "What? Come to beg for mercy?"
"Mr. Sutton... it's me, Kara."
Hearing a different name, Kieran frowned. Sure enough, it was Kara's voice that filled the room.
Kara blushed and timidly lowered her gaze. "Mr. Sutton, I..."
"Who sent you here?" Kieran's tone was icy.
Kara paused, noticing the stark difference in Kieran's demeanor from the night before, feeling disheartened.Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Mr. Sutton, I... I came to thank you for helping me get into Summit University." Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Impatient, Kieran snapped, "Are you done?"
Kara nodded. "Yes, I'm done."
Seeing Kara dressed similarly to Eloise, Kieran's gaze turned colder, "If you're done, leave."
Even Kara, slow to catch on at times, could tell Kieran was in a foul mood.
Jarrett chimed in, "Ms. Orson, if you could please..."
Kara bit her lip, knowing Freya had won Kieran's favor by resembling Eloise. If Freya could do it, so could she!
"Mr. Sutton! Your coffee's gone cold. I'll get you a fresh one!" Kara quickly grabbed the coffee mug from Kieran's desk and rushed out before he could respond. "Mr. Sutton..."
"Call Johanna. Tell her to get Freya over here, now!"
"Yes, Mr. Sutton."
Meanwhile, Johanna rushed back home.
Freya was lounging in the living room in her pajamas, leisurely enjoying her coffee.
Johanna exclaimed, "Freya! Why are you still here? Didn't I say you needed to apologize to Mr. Sutton today?"
"That was something you agreed to, not me," Freya replied nonchalantly, sipping her coffee. "I'm not going to the press conference in three days, and I won't apologize to Kieran."
Johanna fumed. "You! How can you be so thoughtless? Do you have any idea how much Mr. Sutton pulling his investment will affect the company? If you don't apologize to Mr. Sutton, the company's finished!" "Didn't you always tell me to leave the company in your hands? If there's a problem, it's your responsibility. And if the company's in debt, you'll have to pay it back."
"What did you say?" Johanna was stunned.
Feigning confusion, Freya continued, "Don't you know? As Dad's widow, unless... you renounce Dad's inheritance, you're responsible for the company's debts."
