Chapter 1185
"Whoa, is that really Logan?" Gemma froze in her tracks.
"Looks like it, it's definitely him." the girl with glasses pushed her sliding glasses up her nose, squinting for a better look.
Standing in front of a mirror, Logan nodded in satisfaction at his reflection, "This is the one, could you wrap it up for me, please?"
The girl almost dropped her glasses. Was he serious? Not even going to shop around a bit more?
They watched in disbelief as Logan walked up to the cashier and settled the bill, the total nearly making them gasp.
A simple suit for $27,000?!Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
After purchasing the suit, Logan drove off, leaving a group of stunned onlookers in his wake. "He just left like that?"
"Seems so. And he didn't even think about getting a pair of glasses to match?! Seriously?"
"Dude, I need to get me a suit too," someone mumbled, earning himself a collection of eye rolls. Gemma and her friends hadn't realized Logan was unaware of their tracking him at the mall.
Soon after handling those errands, Logan received a bombshell of a message.
His phone buzzed incessantly with updates from a group chat he'd almost ignored, had it not been for catching a glimpse of Faye's name. Curiosity peaked, he clicked in. What he saw next made his eyes widen. A message from Anna confirmed his suspicions:
"Next month's my wedding, hope to see you all there."
Followed by an invitation and a string of shocked responses from their friends. Anna and Soren's engagement had caught many off guard.
Faye, feeling a mix of emotions, messaged Anna privately, "How did things move so fast? I haven't even started dating and you're getting married!" Anna's reply came with a shy smile, "Graham, Brooke, and Arnold think highly of Soren. We're all so busy, we just picked a date."
"Will you make it? I've invited you guys, it wouldn't be the same without you."
Despite her turmoil, Faye brushed her sadness aside, "Don't worry, I'll be there!"
The night of the dinner arrived, and Faye, accompanied by Doreen, headed to the restaurant.
Logan, having dressed sharply in a black suit and used some hair gel for extra flair, stopped by a florist to pick up bouquets for both ladies.
He arrived early at the restaurant, sending a message to Faye to take their time before joining him in the private dining room.
When Faye arrived, she was taken aback by Logan's transformation, momentarily speechless.
"What are you standing there for?" Doreen, unaware of the moment unfolding, nudged Faye inside, until she too caught sight of Logan.
Dressed impeccably, Logan's effort for the evening was unmistakable, especially to Doreen, who sensed this dinner would be extraordinary.
Seeing Faye in her elegant white dress and Logan in his suit, even Doreen couldn't help but feel they were a perfect match, her smile broadening at the thought. "Here you are, please, have a seat," Logan greeted them warmly, pulling out chairs.
Doreen and Faye settled in, slightly dazed.
"I wasn't sure what you'd like, take a look at the menu, see if there's anything else you want," Logan offered the menu to Doreen.
A quick glance revealed Logan had chosen Faye's favorites, a detail that didn't escape Doreen's notice.
"This is fine," she handed the menu back to the waiter.
With the room to themselves, Logan presented Doreen with a bouquet of pink roses, then surprised Faye with champagne roses. "This is for you."
Faye, flustered and touched, barely managed a "Thank you," as she accepted the flowers, marveling at Logan's memory of her favorite.
The meal progressed with casual conversation, Logan attentively making sure Faye's preferred dishes were always within her reach, actions Doreen observed with a knowing smile.
Logan's phone wallpaper - a picture of Faye - did not go unnoticed by Doreen, confirming her suspicions about his feelings.
After dinner, Logan made to settle the bill, only to find Doreen had beaten him to it, leaving him with a hint of encouragement in her eyes. "Wait here, I'll take care of it," he insisted, a sign of the evening's significance not lost on them.
Faye nodded, deciding to stay in the private dining room. Her gaze kept drifting unconsciously to the bouquet of roses sitting off to the side. Logan caught up with Doreen, who was on her way to pay the bill, "Let me cover dinner this time."
Doreen didn't budge, paying the bill herself. She flashed Logan a smile, holding her credit card, "This meal
was our way of saying thanks to you. It wouldn't make any sense for you to pay. I'm quite firm on that principle."
Logan gave in with a nod. On their way back, he pondered for a
moment before speaking up, "Actually, there's something else I wanted to talk to you about during dinner."
"What's that?" Doreen couldn't contain her excitement. Could it be what she was thinking?
Logan seemed quite nervous. He took a deep breath before continuing, "Well, it's like this. I like Faye."
"I know it might seem sudden and a bit forward, but the reason I'm here is because of her. I hope you can trust me with her."
"You should express your feelings to Faye first. Of course, I think highly of you both."
