Chapter 2234
Matthew instantly recognized the car as Sanford’s.
“What’s going on? Do you know whose car it is?” Cordell pressed.
Matthew remained silent.
Cordell sighed, realizing there might be another quarrel brewing.
He offered his advice.
“Even though you’ve lost your memory and feel a debt to Lindsay, you can’t keep putting Stella through this.
You’ll regret it someday.
”
Knowing that Cordell had misunderstood, Matthew hurriedly explained himself.
“It’s not because of Lindsay.
Something urgent came up at the company.
”
But Cordell just let out another sigh.
He knew he couldn’t persuade Matthew, so he simply said, “In that case, you need to be more clear with your reasons and your intentions.
Otherwise, your misunderstandings with Stella will only deepen, and before you know it, it would be too late for you to explain and make things right.
”
“I understand,” Matthew replied in a flat tone before ending the call.

In the CEO’s office of Prosperity Group.
“Mr.
Clark,” Fernando said cautiously upon seeing Matthew hang up.
“Should I proceed?”
Matthew nodded slightly.
Fernando could tell that his boss was in a foul mood, but this matter was far too important to dismiss.
And so, he braced himself and carried on with his report.
“I’ve looked into it, and found that the Charles family expressed no prior indication of participating in the bidding; they just suddenly joined in.
Rumors are floating around that the Charles family is willing to give up their rights to a port in Lyllmann.
If this is true, then that means the other bidders are nothing more than props to the show.
After all, this project is mainly for foreign trade.
Having an additional naval route would certainly provide an extra advantage.
”
The more Matthew listened, the more serious his expression became.
He understood the gravity of the situation all too well.
“For now, the entire project team is racking their brains for other solutions,” Fernando continued, “but if the Charles family doesn’t withdraw from the bidding, I’m afraid our chances of winning are slim.
”
Matthew’s face was grim.
Just then, he heard his phone vibrate.
Matthew immediately thought that Stella had sent him a message.
He quickly unlocked his screen, only to find that Lindsay was the one who had texted him.
His brows furrowed in irritation.
He ignored Lindsay’s message and set his phone back on the desk, face down.
“I want you to investigate the Charles family further,” he instructed Fernando.
“See what other projects they are involved in these last few months, and keep an eye on their movements.
”
“Understood,” Fernando nodded respectfully.
He paused and studied Matthew’s expression for a moment.
“By the way,” he added, his voice softer this time, “there will be a meeting with your wife’s team tomorrow, regarding the autumn and winter product launch.
The schedule was set before you traveled to Sothrea.
Do you need me to reschedule it?”RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Matthew was silent for a moment.
“That won’t be necessary.
We’ll go with the original schedule.
”
Fernando hummed in acknowledgment, and then took his leave.
Left alone in his office, Matthew found himself pondering Cordell’s words from earlier.
He picked up his phone again, and scrolled through his contact list to find Stella’s number.
