Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Nate attended the most prestigious private kindergarten in all of Streamville, a place where only the
children of wealthy and influential families were enrolled. Given the Howard family’s prominent status in
the town, it would be inevitable for anyone to marginalize Nate.
“They call me dumb, a bastard,” Nate said, tears welling up in his eyes as he glanced at Natalie with a
whisper.
Natalie was stunned.
“Your mom’s a homewrecker, shameless, you’re a little bitch…” Flashbacks from her childhood surged
violently through her mind. Natalie knew all too well how devastating bullying could be. But she never
imagined that words like “bastard” would come from the mouths of three- or four–year–old children.
Although she didn’t know who Nate’s mother was, he was still recognized as a descendant of the
Howard family. How could he be called a bastard?
Perhaps Nate was born through surrogacy, which would explain why he didn’t have a mother. Such
arrangements were not
uncommon in the high society.

After a moment of silence, she wrapped her arms around Nate and comforted him softly, “I think Nate is
smart. You’re just a little late in starting to talk, that’s all. A dumb kid wouldn’t remember how to get to
kindergarten.”
As Natalie spoke, Nate’s tears fell in earnest, and he sniffled, “Then… will you come to pick up me?”
Natalie’s heart softened at his tears, and she gently nodded, “Of course.”
That brought a smile to Nate, and he buried his head in Natalie’s embrace, wiping away his tears and
snot before contentedly heading into the kindergarten with his little backpack.
Watching him enter, Natalie turned and walked back to her car.
Just then, another child passed by Nate, who proudly pointed towards the entrance and boasted,
“That’s my mommy, see?”
Everyone said he didn’t have a mommy, but he wanted to show them that he did!
As Natalie was about to get into her car, she looked back at him. Nate waved at her from a distance,
and she smiled back before driving away.
The child next to Nate looked at him oddly and mocked, “That’s your sister, isn’t it?”
“No, she’s my mommy!” Nate’s face turned flushed as he insisted loudly. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Natalie would come back for him, and then everyone would know!
Natalie had taken Matthew to see the doctor, and it would be a while before the test results were ready.
To pass the time, she casually started playing a game on her phone.
Samuel, growing impatient outside, came in and asked, “How much longer?”
Natalie shifted her gaze from her game to give Samuel a sidelong glance.

Matthew was undergoing chemotherapy for late–stage lung cancer in a lot of pain, and here Samuel
was, showing his impatience.
“If you don’t want to be here, stop pretending to be the dutiful son,” Natalie couldn’t help but sneer.
No doubt, Samuel and his wife were eager to take control and seize Matthew’s share of the company.
“Why do you have to be so unpleasant?” Samuel darkened his face.
“Want to hear something even more unpleasant?” Natalie asked nonchalantly.
Gracia walked in and glanced at Natalie’s phone, saying, “Why are you still playing games?”
Her tone carried a hint of scorn.
Then, turning to Samuel, she consoled, “Dad, don’t be upset. Natalie is getting married soon, and you’ll
have fewer chances to be angry with her.”
Natalie ignored them, her hands moving swiftly to finish the game.
Moments later, a system notification appeared, “Congratulations to you for achieving today’s first kill,
dominating the leaderboard for the 198th consecutive day.”
The chat was filled with admiration, “The boss is so cool!”
“My goodness, boss! Taking the knee! Solo saving the team, just epic!”
“This guy must have eight hands, I swear! Not even the high–rollers are this amazing!”
Natalie checked her account briefly, estimating the points. The account she had nurtured without
spending a penny could probably fetch a tidy sum now.
She planned to sell all her gaming accounts next month.
After all, playing competitive games was just one way King had trained her to improve her reflexes.
As the doctor helped Matthew out, Natalie closed her game and pocketed her phone to follow.
“Your engagement party is being prepared. You’ll need to visit the boutique this afternoon to try on your
dress,” Samuel said quietly behind her.
