Chapter 1066
"Sorry, the number you have dialled is on hold, please call again later..."
After waiting for a while, Willy tried dialling the number again but it still couldn't get through. He walked over to the barbecue to help out.
"How is it? When will Laurie be coming over? I really miss her!"
That time, it was Alicia who asked with anticipation in her eyes. Her child was rather excited too that day, playing around happily and waving excitedly, as if sharing everyone's joy.
"She's currently busy and I can't seem to contact her. So, she might not have the time to come! Also, it might not be convenient for her to come now with her body's condition, so maybe next time!"
Upon hearing his words, everyone stopped bringing the topic up.
Soon, food was ready and the men let the ladies eat first out of courtesy. Victoria and Caroline were not picky eaters. As for Alicia, she ate the vegetables without any seasoning because she still needed to breastfeed the baby. Also, as the baby was very clingy to her, so Frederick had to
feed Alicia.
Soon, the baby looked as if it was getting sleepy. Alicia then called the nanny over and had her place the baby in the pram. After the baby fell asleep, they moved the pram to a small room so that the baby could rest quietly. Alicia let the nanny take care of the baby, and then went back to join the party.
Willy remembered that he and Lauren were still in the midst of the argument, so he wasn't sure if she would be irritated again if he made her come over without telling her in advance. As he pondered upon it, Willy was paying attention to see if there was any notification on his cell phone. So, after two more missed calls, he let the matter rest.novelbin
Since everyone at the party knew each other, there was no need for loud musics or awkward polite conversations. They chatted leisurely and enjoyed the food at the party. It was a pleasant evening and it gradually ended peacefully.
After thinking things through, Willy felt relieved and completely relaxed. The next day, he went to the office. Even after a busy day full of meetings, he did not feel tired at all.
He finished his work at around three in the afternoon and headed back to the office. Then, he tried calling Lauren again, "Sorry, the number you dialled is currently unavailable, please try again later..."
It was another automated reply. Willy's heart suddenly sank. What was happening? Was she in class? Why didn't she answer any of the calls he had made? Why didn't she call him back?
While making coffee, Willy browsed Lauren's class schedule on his phone. She didn't have any classes that afternoon. Had she fallen asleep at home, or gone out? What a coincidence. He was thinking of picking her up later, to see her and give her an explanation!
An idea came to Willy's mind and he knocked himself on the head. He suddenly realized then that something was lacking. He poured himself a cup of coffee and returned to his seat. He quickly turned on his computer, opened his email and went to a website that sold luxurious jewelry.
"She doesn't look like someone who like this materialistic things, someone as simple as her would prefer simplicity over extravagance..."
With one hand propped up on his chin and one hand holding the mouse, Willy muttered to himself unconsciously. He scrolled through the pages and saw a ring with three diamonds of different sizes embedded on it.
"Encounter Love"?
The ring had a minimalist design. The diamond in the middle was not that big, it was about three carats, while the decorative diamonds on either side were even smaller in size, and they were not exactly symmetrical, but it somehow looked like a family of three. Although the ring was very simple in design, but it showcased the three diamonds which were of the finest D grade in the world. The description said that the artisanal craftsmanship used was a special process and cutting technique, making the diamond purer and more lustrous than the average diamonds. In addition, the total carats of the three diamonds was 5.21 carats, which could be translated to "I Love You". There were indeed a lot of thoughts being put into it.
Even the name of the ring was perfect!
Wasn't their encounter with each other a special one?
Willy had his heart set on the ring at first glace.
Then, he placed the order for it.
When Willy walked out of his office that day, he was in a good mood. On the way, he called Lauren on her cell phone once again, but still, no one answered it. Finally, he just drove straight to Maltrich International Condominium with a large bouquet of roses.
When he arrived downstairs, he looked at the large bouquet of red roses on the passenger seat. His heart suddenly ached, and he realized that it seemed to be the first time he had sent her flowers!
He hadn't been good to her or given her many things. Instead, he had given her nothing but pain and sorrow!
He parked at the entrance of the residence and waited for a long time. He tried to call her multiple times but still couldn't get through. He had asked the doorman, but he said that he had not noticed her returning home. Willy's heart sunk all the more.
Soon, the sky was turning dark and it was already eight in the evening. However, Lauren was still unreachable on the phone. He walked to her unit, but it was pitch black. He came out with a frown on his face.
What the hell was she doing that late at night? Did something happen to her?
Walking out quickly, Willy dialled the servant's number. How could he forget that he could do that?
After some questioning, Willy immediately burst out in anger, "What did you say? Didn't I tell you to take good care of her? Do you want me to fire you?"
Did she actually go back to her hometown to take a break?
"Master Willy, please don't be angry. It was you who told us to listen to Miss Heady She said she was going to a friend's house to take a break and also asked us to go on a break. She also told us that she would give us a call in advance if she is returning. She gave us orders to not disturb her if there is nothing
important!"
"I've been waiting for her calls for three days but she hadn't call. I had just returned to my home because my father had been hospitalized. Master Willy, please don't fire me! I've been in touch with Miss Heady every day. She says she's fine and doesn't need me back for a while!"
"I have the call logs to prove it, Master Willy..."
The servant hurriedly explained, but Willy was so mad that his face turned red. What was Lauren thinking? What friend would she have who could take care of her? Was she counting on Sharon, the forensic medical examiner who was too busy to even go home?
After asking for a few more details, Willy then said, "Okay, got it! You can take care of your family first! Come back when you're done. I don't need you here for now!" "Bang!" Willy hung up the phone with frustration, He could feel a headache. Did that mean that she wasn't even there when he was on business trip?
So, it wasn't that he couldn't get through to her phone, it was because she didn't answer his call!
D*mn it!
Didn't she know that she was pregnant? How could she still run around like that?
Willy turned around and saw the doorman at the entrance. His anger rose again. Lauren hadn't returned for so many days. Were they all blind? How many times had he asked? They hadn't even said anything to him!
Willy unloaded all his anger on them as he turned over!
As he roared, even the manager had to come out to apologize as he questioned his subordinates, "What's going on? Why did you all inform Mr. Willy that the guest didn't come back when you are unclear about the situation?"
"Well... I have things to do these days. Someone has changed shifts with me. I just got back yesterday, so..."
He wasn't aware of it at all!
Seeing him stuttering, Willy really wanted to throw some kicks at him. He was infuriated. Suddenly, a thought came in to his mind, so he went back to his car to get a key and went straight upstairs.
When he pushed open the door, it
was indeed empty. The air was stale. Willy realized that the yellow duck-shaped porcelain cup she
usually used was missing. He opened the shoe cab on the side, and sure enough, only his shoes
were left in there. A horrible gut instinct came in to his mind.
Had she moved out?
